You are my moonlight, my lovely moonlight
you make me tremble in every way
just hold me close dear and silence my fear
there's no rush to meet the light of day
 

those many evenings when I was dreaming
of someone like you within my arms
could almost feel you right there beside me
oh so sad when I knew I'd not your charms
 

but then one sweet night an angel kissed me
a dark haired lady past every dream
and then awakened that wondrous morning
all I'd wished for was just what it seemed


now every mornin' I wake and hold her
a few more kisses with curtain drawn
I hope she'll never want to leave me
and I hope the moon keeps shinin' on
