Salmon's Journey

Salmon embark
on up-stream trail
If they don't try
they'll surely fail

Beset by bears
and weariness
driven by instinct
pass the test

Each spring
the same
river's current
to brave

Up-stream
they leap
Their species
To save

The Salmon dies at the end of their trip. However, new eggs are laid, bears are fed, a few fisherman are thrilled at the catch of the day , and in the end, the life cycle goes on.
