Once Upon A time
by Begin Again
Long ago, an evil woman refused to let the children play.
When a peddler fiddled a merry tune, she whined, "Stop, I say!" and snarled, "Be on your way,"
The peddler sang this song --
On a mission for the King, I am,
A single arrow I must bring,
Riches he has promised me,
Ne' er to want another thing.
Gardens filled with daffodils,
Fancy gowns of pretty pink,
Geese to lay eggs of gold,
Fountains of youth, mine to drink.
A jester to tell a funny joke,
A prince to hold my hand.
I'll trade that magic arrow,
For treasures, oh so grand.
"Where might it be?" the desperate woman mused.
"In the woods, near an oak tree."
**********
Soon, she found the arrow and cackled, "Twill be my fantasy!"
"Black heart so cold, me you'll never hold." the magic arrow chimed.
She tumbled into a hole, disappearing.
Everyone lived happily-ever-after.
