What makes a great leader? Heroes die, but Legend is forever

The King's Ashes

by Gant Laborde

Decades pass as Emrik rules the land. But no wish stops the march of time.

At last, frail and wrinkled, he summons the genie.

“Your final wish?” the genie asks, leering.

Emrik exhales. “I’m done fearing your price, Jinn.”

“Good. So it shall be.”

“I wish to undo my wishes.”

His palace crumbles, but what it built remains. The genie screams, his chains reforged.

Emrik closes his eyes.

“In the end, neither of us wins.”
