A Sonnet

Love in Seasons

by Videl Sky

Fate crossed our paths in Summer’s warm zenith,
A match that burned brilliantly once first lit.
Passion sparked by the Goddess of Venus
Soon tempered and gave way to Autumn’s wit.

We fell to Fall and its steady routines,
And built ourselves an unwavering home.
Cozy with our woven blanket of dreams
Until a paltry crack let sharp winds roam.

Then within your silence Winter governs –
It dwells within you, in that frigid crypt.
Are we mistaken to believe love burns?
There’s gelidness there they don’t oft depict.

Past that solstice, no Spring could recover;
Heralding the end of love and lovers.
