building a snowman

Lord Harold

by RodG

My sister had a super plan
for our dog Brownie, just us three.
We'd spend this lovely winter day
increasing our small family.

"Let's build a snow man nice and tall
with all the snow found at the park.
Now wear your mittens and a cap,
for we'll be working 'til it's dark."

Andrea led, I leashed the dog.
And she'd remembered what we'd need,
a bucket, carrot, coal, plaid scarf
and Gramp's' top hat, a special breed.

The first snow ball we rolled was huge,
and it became his feet and hips.
Then next we made his chest and head
while using coal for eyes and lips.

That silken hat perched on his crown
at tilted angle jauntily.
Lord Harold was a dashing gent
of regal mien, nobility.
