A river floods

Raging River

by Pamusart

The raging river crashes through.

Surrounded trees still have no clue.

The torrent rushes down the hill.

It's headed for the old saw mill.

Been closed for almost fifty years.

The town back then had switched its gears.

It once had been a logging town.

The biggest trees were chopped right down.

-------------------

This forest has no big trees left

because of man's continued theft.

The tiny trees remaining here

will float away in logs, it’s clear.

As waters swell and tumble on,

it's clear this valley will be gone.

Now just imagine this inside

a canyon great and very wide.

--------------------

And think of all that won't survive,

the animals that used to thrive.

And all that mud from loosened dirt

will crush all things beneath its skirt.

Life's buried in the muddy ground

three hundred years before it's found.

A drive to find their fossil bones

began when digging for new homes.

--------------------

The building project had to halt

so scientists could prove their salt.

But, there are some who won't admit

three hundred years is just a blip.

Some fossils have been found so far,

but people doubt how old they are.

We know that man will ruin earth

lest nature fights with all her girth.

--------------------

She's taken back the valley floor,

and fertilized with blood and gore.
