Olde Woman Who Lived In A Shoe

I've had to use the olde version of old to get an even number for my rhyme scheme - so sue me!
sans pain --> without bread
Here's the traditional version of the nursery rhyme:
There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.
She had so many children, she didn't know what to do.
She gave them some broth without any bread;
And whipped them all soundly and put them to bed.
