At Last -- The End

by Bill Schott

A time of battle against all odds,

this year came out for blood --

and took it.

A heart re-piped,

stented, attended by those

who saved it.

A brain that bled,

and left the stroke reminder

of paralysis.

A lone kidney that failed,

requiring dialysis

forever.

Last, but not really,

oxygen organs which require daily infusing

of  lung lubricant.

Next year we will strike oil,

find gold, win the lottery --

tax free.
