A Father Daughter poem. N1 in the trilogy.

Is Now A Good Time?

by Elizabeth Delaney

“Is now a good time?”

“What is it!?”

“It’s nothing important”

I just wanted to say I learnt something new today.

It wasn’t much but it made me proud,

I thought you’d be proud  of me too.

“Is now a good time?”

“I’m busy.”

“Oh, don’t worry.”

I just wanted to show you this cool thing I found.

It isn’t much, but I saw it and thought of you.

I was silly to believe, you’d think of me too.

“Is now a good time?”

“Be Quick”

“It’s ok, I’ll leave it”

I just thought you could help, life hit me a bit hard.

It's not that much, just kids at my school.

I’m starting to realise, you're fed up with me too.

“Hey, dad?”

“I’m sick”

They said I’m quite unwell.

It’s not much, but I’m scared.

You don't care all that much.

 I know, me too.

The next poem in this trilogy is called "I'm Sorry Sweetie" and is from the father's perspective before ending with the final poem "It's okay, Dad" which explores forgiveness and hope from the daughter's view.
