A view from Australia

That's How We Aussie's Tell

by bob cullen

There's Old Joe, an' Donnie, let's not forget Barrack's in there too,
Which one of them is the better choice, that task is up to you.
We allies all look on, mock an' joke, an' a little stir an' niggle,
But we're all part of this world you lead, an' when you quake we giggle.
Seriously, we all stand with you an' we won't berate your choice
And we will join with your choir, singin' loudly in an Aussie voice

So God Bless both our countries, may we both continue on in peace
May today's world tensions slowly progress forwards an' bring release.
We have marched beside you in two World Wars, Vietnam as well.
An' saved your scrawny arses, at least that's what we Aussies tell.
It maybe be true, sometimes we may stretch the truth a bit an' yell
Yeah the truth maybe a little stretched, but that's how we Aussies tell.

Yeah the truth maybe a little stretched, 'cause that's how we Aussie's tell.
Truth is, when talkin' 'bout the war, there was courage, blood an' hell
An' loss of good mates and horror in the events so many brave men saw
And we must always remember all those who lost their lives at war.
So now when we raise a glass and pay tribute to all those who fell
Yeah, our truth may be a little stretched, but that's how we Aussies tell

I hope this reads as it was meant, a tribute to everyone who saw battle, enemy and foe. They were all brave. And all fighting in the belief victory would bring peace. There is no intent to bring disrespect to anyone.
