Claus was my best friend

Through the Waterfall

by Senyai

He talked to me, a very vocal beastie
Clairvoyant who read me from east
to west - from my Monday worst
to my Sunday best

Black white brown, a gray, fine boned
mutt who's clock marked the day
changing places about our home
sunning by the glass door afternoons
on our couch-back after dinner
anchoring us as time matched on

He practiced cat- telepathy effortlessly,
He was my rock,  therapist of the
highest order except not
when he sprayed my steamer
or ripped my socks

Claus, with your coat of many colors
I miss your being who graced our home
made it your's as we shared our own
Your ways, your button nose,
almond whiskers curved
but it was your eyes
as you listened to my voice,
shining shown, gilded black
in pools of emerald gold

Now we meet through the waterfall
to your glistening world I cannot go
You sit and watch me in your now glorious coat,
perked ears listening for my voice
through the rushing cascades
"Lully Lully, Clue, my bestest puffy chicken,
I’d step into your world
if I had a choice."
