A Bull Fight

The Bull Fight

by bob cullen

He flew through the air, with the greatest of ease
Looked like he belonged, on the flying trapeze.
But it went so wrong when he started to sneeze
The he blew away in a strong ev'ning breeze

His name Fernando, a Spaniard with no shame
A matador, claimed ev'ry bull knew his name
El Torro entered the ring, boasted that he'd tame
Tonight, he would prove, he would back up his claim

All tickets were sold, the crowd was immense
The mob screaming, leanin' on ev'ry damn fence
Seats were all filled as Fernando stood so tense
El Torro paced around, the air growing dense.

The trumpeter blew loud, the crowd on their feet
El Torro sat still, so unsteady but full on deceit
Neither bull nor fighter had ever been beat,
One thought remained, could he survive, this blazin' heat?

The contest started slow, the bull pawed and wheezed
The dust stirred slowly, the bull needed to sneeze,
The judge called loud; "Gent's it's time if you please."
The truth lives with him: The Judge fell to his knees

When that whistle blew, he just knew, nuthin'; would be learned.
Reality screamed, a wronged man had been burned.
The Judge didn't listen, he barely uttered a word.
Result was unfair, I sensed the crowd had concurred.

But time has a way of slowly revealing what's true,
As it eats at your conscience, there's one thing to do.
Face up to each problem an' to yourself be true
Forgiveness brings solution, an' your wife tells you too.
