You won't believe this
Good Old Cattle Dog
by K.O. Wilson
He’s smart as a whip, and deaf as a post you know if you need his help he’ll be close. Standing and watching and awaiting attention. He knows thirty five signs that can be linked together to form basic sentences, to which he will agree with a dip of his head or by doing the action itself.
For example if you signed would you like a cookie? He would gallop off like a two week old Philly, and then indicate the cut out side of the milkbone box with his nose. I’m serious that is the type of thing he does.
Like all working dogs he needs constant stimulation, so as not to get board with the situation. If there is one thing to desire in his personality it would be patients. He does not suffer fools and if you are taking too long about something he wants done he will let you know with a bark or a nip at the air in your direction, or sometimes both. When he thinks you have been a good human, you get kisses and pats with a gentle paw. The one thing we all know, and it’s hard to deny that good old cattle dog has us trained and that’s no lie.
