Excellent
Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted
when all hope is lost.

Good companions

by Snowball30

I am aged.
l am weary.
l am alone.
l look ahead.
An empty desert
stretching into the horizon,
motionless, treeless, waterless.

I look up.
Grey sky.
Birdless.
Still. Unsympathetic.
Dull as my life.

l look back.
l see a fresh grave
A headstone, marble white.
my husband's name upon it.

l look ahead.
Nothing.
Should I end my journey here?
Rest my weary bones,
lie down and sleep?
Let the desert claim me?

Behind me,
Two figures rise from the dust
and approach.
Strong hands lift me up.
l ask their names.
'HOPE' said one,
'FAITH",said the other.
'We will be your companions.
Let us  travel with you
and lighten your steps.
Beyond the desert
is a green oasis
where you will feel refreshed.'

So l journeyed on
with my two protectors.
The desert bloomed,
the sky turned blue.
filled with birdsong,
and l found love again.
