A Love Poem
Follow the Rain
Beneath the clouds,
at dusk,
we met;
we strolled down Lover's Lane.
A sudden storm,
the spring
sunset;
I fell with April rain.
Your hands, your lips
explored
each inch
and claimed my rain-kissed skin.
Like butter in
your heat
your sheets,
then summer drew us in.
With limbs entwined,
we fell
to fall
and burned as months grew cold.
But ice beneath
our feet
grew thick,
and winter's wrath took hold.
A fiercer wind
each turn
would blow;
I reached for months gone by.
When flames grew high
from spring
to fall,
and fire fell from our sky.
But in my push,
a pull
of heat;
the clouds began to swell.
And from the cold
into
your hands,
with April rain, I fell.
