Anyone who reads this knows what writers always say:
“Writers have to write,” because …well we just do, okay?
It’s as nat-u-ral to us as sunrise every morn,
Unless, of course, it’s raining, and our writing muse has “gorn.”
“Author” sounds important, and it is, most certainly,
Though most folks think of books, and not occasional poetry.
But anything a writer puts out there for folks to read …
By that, I mean creative, not some groceries that you need,
Makes him or her an author of whatever they have written
And once a good response comes back, well, yessir, they are smitten,
And fingers fly across the keys as new ideas keep flowing
And lo, a book of poetry is rapidly a-growing.
OR
Perhaps a myst’ry’s in the air, a breath-holding who-dunnit,
which has a competition, and suspense to see who’s won it.
Or you might try a murder where the good guy is arrested,
Which needs a super plot and your creativeness is tested.
OR
A novel so well liked that it becomes the new Best Seller,
And all the super writer critics say that it is stellar
Well then, of course, the author’s an immediate success,
And there’s no greater feeling in the whole world (I would guess.)
BUT
Even if you don’t get published that’s okay because
Every word and sentence, indeed, each and every clause
Is YOUR creative mind at work that keeps the brain a-growin’
And sewing seeds for folks to read, and now, you’ve got your toe in!
SO …

I will never speak to you again.
KIDDING!
