A morning walk feeds the imagination.
Escapist Thoughts at Dawn
This time of day I've long adored ~
new day's soft light in which to walk.
I strolled by where some yachts were moored;
such peaceful calm, no needless talk.
What details would the light unfold?
The harbour's beauty was revealed
in tones of lavender and gold
as colour touched what was concealed.
The silhouettes of boats stood out
against the sky's dawn-mottled hues.
A little dinghy bobbed about
as I took in the varied views.
While water gently lapped the shore,
gulls' muted calls did not disturb
the tranquil scene that lay before.
Then colours brightened ~ how superb!
Each sense of mine alert, aware,
with tang of salt fresh on the breeze,
while part of me was far from there,
adventuring upon high seas.
Imagination soon took hold ~
on board a yacht, right now, today,
to live a life of freedom bold!
My mind lit up and sailed away.
Such dreams shone in the bright sun's rays,
but time was up, my walk was done.
I said a prayer of grateful praise
then left for work. Day had begun.
