A Rondeau
Cicadas Sing
Cicadas sing in shadowed trees
in vacillating harmonies
above green beds of spreading thyme
embedded in a wooded clime
impassioned music fills the breeze
Damp, humid air with languid ease
entwines the notes by slow degrees
old ballads sung in sultry rhyme
cicadas sing
With swelling, loud cacophonies
in concert with slow, droning bees
their concentrated, blended chime
share cadences that fall and climb
entrancing summer melodies
cicadas sing
