"Patch and Ruby "

Chapter 1
Patch and Ruby's Plan

By Debi Pick Marquette

Our Ruby has been worried, since she knew Patch had to move

I told her all about it, now she fears for Patch’s groove

I wish I hadn't told, ‘cause now our grand-kitty must leave

Into a new apartment, so Ruby’s starting to grieve

Patch just may have the answer to ensure Ruby survives

I hate to have her use another one of her nine lives

I'd like to see our Ruby cat without all of that stress

Patch wears the pants in Helen's house, but Ruby wears a dress

Now that the two are zooming, both the kitties are good friends

I overheard the plot to make sure that the moving ends

I hate to get involved, tell what those smarty cats have planned

They talked about the circle each missus wears on her hand

They tried it out on Ruby’s mom since moving’s on her mind

Then Ruby hid that circle where she thinks it's hard to find

They act like they're no longer cats; they each are a sly fox

Now Kenzie's ring is at the bottom of the litter box

Author Notes Our friend and fellow author, Helen (lyenochka) inspired me to write this. I have enjoyed her short stories about how Patch was doing with their move. So when my granddaughter, Kenzie (she does much of my art) decided to move, she told me that Ruby could already sense something was up. So I just had to write my own take on the two kitty cats!

Chapter 2
Patch and Ruby ~Hawaii or Bust~

By Debi Pick Marquette

It started when Kenzie's Ruby and Helen's Patch first met
They found each other on cat-chat, app for any pet
When Kenzie thought she had to move, Ruby and Patch would plot
Cause Patch knew just how hard it was, which helped Ruby a lot

And then when Kenzie stayed, these kitties thought they stopped the move
And now these smarty cats believe they've got something to prove
One day when I was cat-sitting I thought, where is she now
These two were doing their cat-chat, acting like the cat's meow

I'm glad I learned the language, cause they have a cattitude
And what I heard them plotting will have both moms come unglued
I saw the scratching on the wall; they talked about a trip
These naughty girls wanted to ride an airplane or a ship

At first, Patch was a scaredy cat to go so far alone
And Ruby said it will be fine; we'll kitnap Kenzie's phone
I see how Kenzie messages with only just one claw
Patch said Hawaii is the place; we'll visit Grandmama

They knew they couldn't walk so hitchhiking would be a must
Patch ordered Sign from Amazon, said "Hawaii or Bust"
I called Helen and Kenzie; let the cat out of the bag
These smarty cats got grounded before they could get jet lag

Both moms wanted those girls to learn a big lesson that day
So they would never try again to plan to go away
The cats hid stuff outside so they'd be ready to explore
But Patch and Ruby thought that one another lived next door

The moms had planned to follow so left door open on gate
As kitties wandered 'round outside, was cold and getting late
They couldn't find each other, and were tired of the wait
They barely left the yard, yet they were sure they used life eight

So with their tails between their legs, back to their house instead
They each forgot the trip, when they crawled in their nice warm bed
The moral to the story is like Dorothy once said
There is no place like home; be thankful for your daily bread

Author Notes Grandmama is Helen's mom who lives in Hawaii

This is the second poem about these plotting kitties, Patch and Ruby.
Patch belongs to Helen, (Lyenochka) and Ruby is my granddaughter, Kenzie's cat.
Last year Helen wrote the fun stories about how Patch did with their move.
It wasn't long after when Kenzie thought she would have to move, she mentioned that Ruby was acting strange. That's where I got the idea to let Patch help Ruby stop the move.

Chapter 3
Patch and Ruby Fix Helen's Mews

By Debi Pick Marquette

Our Helen teased her muse was broke

But Patch could never take a joke

So. Patch said this can't be good news

She had to help her missus mews

So, Patch on her iPad would Skype

To Ruby, who's the helpful type

Then Ruby said, can you tell me

What is this mews s'pose to be

Is it a body part perhaps

A place with age that starts to lapse

Then Patch said, it was in her head

She says that now it's blank instead

Some kind of food is my belief

When I feel blank, it gives relief

Then Ruby said, I think I know

The very place that we should go

On Amazon we're sure to find

Just what we need to fill her mind

"Meows" comes up when I search "mews"

So I just found what she can use

And now her mews we're sure to fix

We ordered Helen Meow Mix

And both of us we know she'll thank

With head and mews no longer blank

Chapter 4
Patch and Ruby Plan a BD Party

By Debi Pick Marquette

When Patch skyped Ruby just to speak

She said "My birthday is this week"

And Ruby said "I'll come see you

A party is what we should do"

"My missus surely won't like that"

And Ruby said, "think like a cat

She knows I'm here so what's the diff

We must get into some mischief"

And so a party they had planned

And if it would get out of hand

"Catzilla bounces cats that crash

He’s great at taking out cat trash"

When they thought missus was asleep

The cats came in without a peep

And in the basement, all these cats

Were dancing in fun party hats

 Some meowgaritas were alright

'Till whisk-E Sour Puss had to fight

So, Patch said, "You are way too plowed"

"Intoxicats are not allowed!"

Catzilla bounced them out the door

He said "no worries anymore"

The camera they did not see

These cats thought they were home Scot~ free

So, even though they were alone

The missus taped them from her phone

She laid in bed and watched a while

Then she rolled over with a smile

Author Notes Patch belongs to Helen, Missus (Lyenochka)
Ruby is my granddaughter, Kenzie's cat
Catzilla belongs to Sally Law
