Powerful piece--I concur completely with your rat-a-tat points jam-packed in this heartfelt declaration--very clever to end as you began. Good luck. Cheers. LIZ (Kings' s/b King's)

I have wondered what Martin Luther King would make of the riots that are happening today around the world. I fully respect people's rights to protest peacefully and I understand why they are doing it, but I can't see why it should descend into violence. You're right about the media as well, they're only keen to show this side of what's happening and not the peaceful protests that have been taking place. I thought this was a well written piece and I enjoyed reading your thoughts. Good luck in the contest!

Jacob, I do also wonder! In my world, I just do not see the leadership rising up with one voice of clarity and reason that this nation must undergo substantive change for all.

Well written and thoughtful. I'm doubt it is particularly helpful either in a review or in the present societal situation to just agree or disagree so I will eventually post my own statement of opinion about what is going on later. For the review I will repeat--well written and thoughtful.

I'm sure Dr Martin Luther King is turning in his grave as he looks down on what is happening today. The sad thing is, there are more black and white people who respect and have lasting friendships with each other, than there are of the other kind. It's the few that are causing all the unrest. I'm sure the amount of racist police are small, and there are more who are decent. Well done on this piece, and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Sandra, I agree 100% . The media never interviews people who don't "fit" the narrative they are trying massage.

I would give you a 25 score if I could! PenPal, great points of how we
are isolated with masks, don't hug and don't go outside. Now, protesters are mobbing the streets with violence, fires and throwing statues onto the ground. We can pray to Father God and dream like Martin Luther King.
The media makes people glued to their networks. The Pres lies in front of the people. We can be voices by writing and being righteous.
Did you know that George Floyd Foundation is creating a community center for the youth to play ball? We can all help others in love.

flylikeandeagle, Oi! Any money put to the betterment of any child is good money spent. My fav is Boys and Girls Club, where they teach responsibility and provide a safe place to learn lifew skills that do make a difference.
Comment from January L'Angelle
I'm right with you. I believe that you said everything that I'm feeling. I'm frustrated with the media and its "money machine" as you so eloquently put it. Money does fuel the riots, they are well funded. Martin Luther King Jr. would be so disappointed if he could witness this debacle. You are right about politicians needing to be fired for the orders to stand down. I could use some melatonin right about now for that mystical long sleep. Six stars for you my friend! -January L.

January, wow, thank you for the six-stars and the validation. I am too so saddened by all of this and then we now have another hot spot brewing in Atlanta. Ugh!

A very well-written story about the sentence that start the story and tells how you feel about the current events in the world where all is chaos and good became evel and evil became good.

This is very written and well thought out. All of your points make sense and I agree with you. I grew up in a state where racial prejudice was at it's worse and I thought we made a lot of progress since the sixties but seeing what is happening in the world today is an eye-opener.

Beth thank you, it feels so daunting that we are here and now at a point that seems totally out of control and too me very unsettling.

This essay says what many of us feel. I mention one "little" thing. Perhaps you could consider, "little black boys and "little" black girls or take out the word "black" before girls and just say, "little black boys and girls." It is a minor thing, but I noticed it as I read. Your essay is very well done.

I stand corrected. I think I gave you five stars anyway but I went back in and updated to five to be absolutely sure.
