I am glad Charles stood up for himself, although he really doesn't have a choice. I do like the idea of him seeing Helen again. I have a feeling there will be a different outcome. At least I hope so.

Very many thanks for the sixth star! I shall try to arrange a romantic reunion between Charles and Helen!

-Good image and
excellent chapter, Tony.
-I like Charles's resurgence
of courage and determination.
-I can't blame him for not
wanting to be suckered
into a scheme he knows
nothing about and being
blackmailed on top of it.
-He got rid of his "shadow,"
and secured the items he
didn't want anyone to get
their hands on.
-It was also smart on his part
to call Bamforth, and establish
things on his own terms.
-He decides to give Bamforth a
chance, and he certainly doesn't
want to be bossed around by Jeanne.
-The conclusion is also very good,
and keeps that envelope in the forefront.

Hi Tony, when I read chapter 52 I had a vague feeling that I was missing something. Now I know why. I never read this superb chapter. Now all is clear and I'm sorry about my mistake. I found one minor thing:
which eventually narrows and becomes a pedestrian access to a stairway leading to the Sacré-Coeur funicular railway. = which eventually narrowed and became a pedestrian ... railway. You changed tense from past to present. I love the story. All best. Ulla:))

Lead a horse to water and let him think it was his idea, and then of course there's the Helen lure reeling him in. Another good chapter Tony,
cheers,

Cheers, Tony;
> Fascinating you should use the situation that Charles is being blackmailed and forced to do something he doesn't want to do by a government's MI6.
> And you brought it up again when I heard a comedian talk about the fact when you're blackmailed by the government is like having a hook stuck up your bum and if you not going to use me as bait, then take it out. Chuckle!
>So is Mme. Durand is a piece of work And Charles is found out, that obviously, She's not following the rules that David was playing with And David actually probably saying that it was like they had just tested his metal. I don't think so?
> thanks for sharing, Tony and take care and have a good one.

I enjoyed this chapter and didn't find anything that needed fixing and I don't have any suggestions to make. In about a month we'll be staying in an apartment very close to Notre Dame Cathedral. Lucky us, don't you think? I'll keep an eye out for spies. :)

Thanks very much for your review and for the sixth star. Much appreciated! Enjoy your trip to Paris. Devastating news about the cathedral, but it seems possible that much of it will be saved and that restoration will be possible. Happy Easter to you. Best wishes, Tony

Good for Charles, taking a stand. I don't for one minute believe anything Bamforth promises. I'm glad the painting is safe, and I hope Charles is very careful at that meeting. A lot has happened in a week or two!

Never worry about being late. I know how busy one can be, and I don't keep tabs. 8-)

Hooray for Charles! Starting to plan on the offensive instead of reacting to the situation. Would liked to have read further into the story but I will wait patiently for the next chapter!

Yes!! Well done, Tony, I loved it that you got one over on them, and you have the painting safely in the bank. Now to find out what it is they want you to do. They might have you by the balls, but you have just given theirs a little squeeze!! lol. Loved this one. I found a little missing 'o' below. That's all, you never have much wrong, I wish mine could be as clean as yours. Well done, my friend. :)) Sandra xx
