Hi Tony,
Another chapter with continuity and interest sustained.
Now the trio must work as one and trust each other to escape and find protection.
Where to next?
Blessings

The trio seem to be in a spot of trouble. Working together might be a good idea!

A great start to the chapter Tony -
the spiral into the cesspit of life-that piqued the interest up a notch, and I wasn't disappointed. Jeanne and Helen against the Mafia, sounds pretty lethal to me. Going well with this intriguing story,
sorry I've no sixers left for you at this stage of the week,
cheers

I love reading the mystery, excitement, suspense and the action scenes in many mafia stories like this one. The author was able to arouse the curiosity of the readers. I will look forward to your next post.

Very many thanks for taking the time to review these two chapters, Nassus. I appreciate your interest and your comments. Best wishes, Tony
Comment from Gloria ....
Haaaaa, it sounds like true love, the spiral into the cesspit of life where you found me. Ah such romance.
Hmmm one does have to wonder why they can be so certain the mafia won't find the documents.
Very interesting indeed.

Ha! I may have to reword that opening sentence to make it clearer that it was Jeanne who rescued Helen from the slums of Bangkok, and not Charles! I haven't really considered a romantic connection between Jeanne and Helen ...yet! LOL

Your plot keeps getting more convoluted and sophisticated. Your characterization is outstanding as well--particularly of the women. You give them a depth that I appreciate. I look forward to the next chapter. Out of six stars to award. I read too many good authors like yourself. I just can't keep them.

Hello Tony,
Ah, the plot moves from soup to stew.
It seems the journal of Helen is the key to mafia's involvement
but what could young Helen have seen or written that is so important?
The journal hidden in her apartment, doesn't sound too safe.
This is very well written with slow reveals of information.
The connection between Helen and Durant is now a bit clearer.
The exotic locations add to the overall interest of the story.
Another fine chapter

Thanks, Robert. Someone else mentioned that there's beginning to be a bit of meat in it now! More about the journal in the next episode. As always, I'm appreciating your support and the six stars. Best wishes, Tony.
Comment from Pam (respa)
-A very good chapter, Tony, that creates
more mystery and moves the story along.
-Things don't look good for Helen because
of her link to Jeanne. I also think her relationship
with Charles might have to be put on hold.
-Jeanne paints a rather bleak picture of future
events because of the mafia, and the
importance she places on the journal.
-Effective use of imagery as you describe
various scenes and characters.
-A very good example is the
inclusion of Charles's observations
of Jeanne and his take on fairy godmothers.
-Now the questions are: what will
Jeanne and Helen do; does Jeanne
have ulterior motives; and where does
all of that leave Charles?

There will be answers to one or two of your questions in the next episode, Pam. Thanks so much for the six stars and your continued support. Best wishes, Tony

You are very welcome for the stars, review, and support, Tony. I figure at some point there will be answers; it is fun to speculate with questions. Any chance you will take a small break from the story, and write a little poem about Rufus?!
Comment from Sally Law
You're still maintaining the suspense and thrill of this story as it unfolds. So, the journal is really what the Mafia wants, and what lies within. Interesting twist you added here! Fantastic writing, as always. I enjoyed this very much! Keep at it! Enjoy you sixer Mr. Tony!
All my best,
Sally

Since I haven't followed this from the start, this clears up the situation Helen and her friend are in. Are the contents of the journal something that has yet to be revealed?

The lot is getting a bit complicated, I admit! Only Helen and Mme Durand have any idea of the contents of the journal at this stage. There is some clarification in the next chapter. All the best, Tony

Oooohh! Intriguing!
Cheers, Tony;
> I must admit that the edge of my seat and they should get the hell out of there as soon as possible before the Mafia comes back. This just it, why do people stand around talking when they should get moving. But that's what makes for good writing.
> What did they get themselves into?
> I really enjoyed this one it was the meat and potatoes of what's going on.
>Seems Mme. Durand knows how terrible these mafia people are and she's increasingly telling them to get a move on and to disappear where they can be found at least for a while.
> Thank you for sharing and caring, Tony and I really enjoyed this one and looking forward to the next installment.

Thanks, Alex. We're getting into the meat of Helen's story now, but not making much progress with the investigation of the French Letter. Eventually, with luck, they'll come together. All the best, Tony
