And the intrigue deepens.
I want to know why the Russian are interested in her paperwork, too.
I guess, we have to ask them. haha And there the story begins to get longer.
This should be quite an adventure during which a romance blossoms.
He's already feeling protective, and she's willing to confide in him.
Sorry I missed reviewing this earlier. I'm trying to catch up.

Thank you for the virtual six. You are not out of sixes for the month but only until Sunday. They grant us new sixes every Sunday.

Since you are a highly rated author I feel hardly qualified to make a critique of your work. I must say that I find the plot intriguing and can't wait to learn more, particularly in respect of the mysterious Russians. It took me a little time to work out the roles of Philip, Jane, Drew and Helen? but no doubt these are explained in Chapter Ein. I have never heard the word "buffaloed" before but I assume this is an Americanism. Kind regards John

Yes it is an American slang word and yes, the characters have all been explained. I appreciate your kind review.

The Russians were allies in the war against the German Nazis, so that's how they obtained the artwork... spoils of war. They had no way of knowing who it really belonged to, so finder's keepers.
Very good chapter. So... how do they FIND it? I guess that's what the book is about. LOL!

Oh yes, it is. The next post is a little bit about that. (I hope!) I need to add a little history. I just don't want to blog the story down. Thank you the kind review.

Hi Barbara, great chapter, and I really like Shana. I like Anderson as well but I hope he doesn't have an ulterior motive. Love the story line. I'm intrigued. All the best. Ulla:)))

Short Chapter. I can feel the intrigue building. Anderson is an interesting character, but keep your eyes on Shana.
Good imagery here - 'Jane's hands were on her hips. "I'll bring her to the patio and have Helen bring out a pitcher of lemonade and some fresh fruit."

Hi Barbara, your story is very interesting, specially
when there are historic items involved. I would like
to know who really stole those items.
I will be waiting for your next chapter.

Anderson is a suspicious guy and a bit harsh with Shana. I believe her and I hope he will eventually believe she has no idea why the Russians are following her. The suspense is building along with my curiosity. This is another fascinating chapter and I look forward to the next post.

You are so good at keeping us in suspense and wanting MORE! Good work and no spags at all. I really appreciate your work. Hope I am still with FS when this gets finished. I plan on NOT continuing after July. You might have to send stuff to my e-mail. Let me know if you want that, later.

Thank you for the kind review. You have to stay around. There's no way I can have the story finished by July, plus I will miss you.

Very good! We are getting more information, and the situation appears more perilous. I saw no obvious spags (let the punctuation police find them), but there were a couple of things that made me pause.
"She's a high school English teacher born and raised in Peoria, Illinois, and Jewish to boot. I doubt she's an international spy." -- I'll give you English teacher and Peoria, but is being Jewish really relevant here?
"Sit down." Anderson touched her arm as he held out a chair. "You're not going anywhere. They said you had something that belongs to them and they want it back." -- Not going anywhere? Anderson might be used to getting his way, but this is still blunt and forceful. It sounds as if he is detaining her. I'd like to see Shana react to that, rather than meekly accept it.
During that visit, I saw a painting, 'Litzberg am Attersee' by Gustav Klimt. He did the painting in 1914. Have you heard of him?"
"Yes, he was an Austrian artist who used ornamental gold leaf as a flat two-dimensional perspective reminiscent of Byzantine mosaics."
"You're correct. -- This all sounds a bit stilted. Anderson's response sounds like it came straight from an encyclopedia or textbook. I was a little surprised by Anderson's knowledge, and expected Shana to be as well, but instead she just says "You're correct", like an teacher to a student. Perhaps Shana would speak very precisely and correctly at all times, being an English teacher and all, but would Anderson and his staff? Work on loosening up your dialogue a little, so it sounds more natural.
Other than those minor issues, it is great!
Keep writing!

but is being Jewish really relevant here? (I think so because Jane is the first to acknowledge that Shana is Jewish and it's an important element to the story.
It sounds as if he is detaining her. I'd like to see Shana react to that, rather than meekly accept it. (I wanted to show Anderson as a man who ALWAYS gets his way and Shana as meek. Things will turn around during the story.)
I was a little surprised by Anderson's knowledge, and expected Shana to be as well, but instead she just says "You're correct", like an teacher to a student. (Later you will find out why and how Anderson has this knowledge.)
Thank you for the kind review.
