I think you made the right decision. I wouldn't agree to anything I was comfortable with. This seems like something you could handle without being too stressed out. It should result in more book sales. Thanks for sharing.

It's great to hear that things are progressing. It all sounds very exciting and a bit nerve-wracking! Be sure to let us know where we can watch the You Tube shorts. Best of luck

It sounds like things are going well and, honestly, it is impossible to know how they will ultimately work out. Readers do like to know about you, but that really isn't as important as them loving your stories.

You, my friend, are an inspiration. I really need to do a LOT more than I have done (which is pretty much nothing --LOL) to promote my work. We'll see how it goes in the near future, I guess, but I am sending you a PM with my email address. :) Your advice is sought!

Well, I am reading this for the first time, so I don't know your dilemma, but you have been through publishing with your other books, so you must know what you're doing. Are you saying that you will be paying for the you tube shorts and videos, and your book sales will provide the payment? I think it's wonderful you have the confidence and self possession to do them.
Your rankings on this site couldn't be better.
best wishes with your new book.

Thank you for the support and the encouragement. My publisher thinks it not only increase my book sales but I'll eventually get paid for putting things on YouTube. We'll see.

Did you mean you made a partial decision or a particle one?
Two is a start on bookstores.
Would you PM me the link for the YouTube videos? Would like to have it.
Why the hesitation with interviews? Stage fright/camera shy perhaps?
The blog could require more effort but may be lucrative in the long run.
Best of luck in all endeavors.

The hesitation on the interviews is I am shy, really, I am. I can do the book signing because most of the time it's one on one and the fan is asking questions about my books, not me. My publisher gave me a bunch of questions to fill out for the interviews and I've not returned them. I'm not ready for that yet. Some of the questions I don't want to answer. I appreciate the support and encouragement.

Hi Barb,
You are a brave girl. I'm guessing that you are self-publishing. That takes a lot more work on your part, I think. You need to sell enough books to at least break even. But ultimately, you want to make a little profit as well. I've been toying with the idea of having my best poems published. Many locals have urged me to try. But I refuse to self-publish. I may send poems to Nimbus Publishing to see what they say. One-time! No more! I'm happy to write for the pleasure it brings me and my readers in Fanstory and Facebook. Getting published is such a racket!
All the Best with your writing!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Thank you for the support. At one of my meet the authors most of the poets used Finishing Line Press for publishing. I know nothing about them, but the poets seemed pleased with them.

Hello, Barbara, thank you for the updates. I'm glad you decided to do youtube and shorts, I think you will reach a wider audience. I pray it all works out and you are successful in your endeavors.

It's tough to "put yourself out there". You feel so vulnerable. I didn't do any of the media stuff when I self-published my first book, and it didn't do very well. I expected that, because my goal was to just to publish a book. You sound as though you're a bit more serious though. I believe that when you meet your readers, you'll be just fine. They want to see you and listen to you. Blogs I don't care for - too much work, but interviews shouldn't be difficult. Be honest. The rest will fall into place. Good luck. Congratulations on your book. Be yourself. Stay well.

Marketing is the hardest part of writing. I'm glad I have a publisher who takes care of it, but...that being said, I know I need to be present more. Just not ready for that. Thank you for the support and the encouragement.

You're welcome.

Well, you should be over the moon, that you get all this attention. It would be the dream of many a writer. So go for it.
I agreed to do to the You Tube: omit Ty he last 'to'.
Lucky you. Ulla:)))
