A lovely little story. What a cute little photo or is it a painting? Norman Rockwell was a friend of Thomas Kinkade who painted profusely. We have a few of his beautiful prints. Thanks for sharing Franky

After reading this entry, I see why it's a contest winner. It's cute and fun. It also tells an entire story using only a few words.

. Peggy Holloway, with her long (Not sure why the beginning period is there.)

Great story. I see it is a winner and I can understand why. It much be a picture inspired story because the Norman Rockwell is too perfect. Of course you get more girls with chocolate than a sprig off a tree.

What a great and imaginative short story, Rod. Maybe the boy didn't get exactly what he wanted, but at least he got her attention. So sweet. Congratulations on your contest win.

I loved this I could just picture and imagine these two youngsters and Peter admiring her al the year waiting for his chance and Peggy ignoring him and acting so above his attentions till the word chocolate came out it seems all women are fickle when it comes to chocolate. Well done and thanks for sharing. Kooky.

Clever to weave a story around a picture. Get rid of the stray period before the first sentence. No need for the exclamation point after the first sentence in paragraph two. Good choice of verb with 'ambled'. Looks as if Petey knew candy was the way to Peggy's heart. For me, it would send more of a message if she grabbed the candy and ran. LOL

This is quite a delightful and realistic story. I love your creative use of the Norman Rockwell piece. You managed to use all characteristics of the painting...the boy, the girl, her turned up nose, the mistletoe, and the candy bar. Well done. Best wishes in the contest.

Ahhh...I think chocolate works. I wonder if the chocolates became few ? Or, perhaps just ekphrastic from the image in nature.
Either way, brought back memories of the simple things we did, and the worth they are now...oh to go back in time.

Good luck in the competition.
Best wishes.
