This is a wonderful family story. I love your Grandma Bessie, like my Nana, she was set in her ways and had to do it her way. I love the reason she finally got married. She did not bat in eye.
Thank you for a heartwarming read.
Regards,
Mary

It's so easy to imagine that! It sounds like you had some wonderful Thanksgivings. I don't think I'd be able to tell the difference between the cornmeals, but if my grandma had said there was one, I wouldn't have argued.

Great snippet! I enjoyed reading this as we all get ready for thanksgiving next week. Family always bring both drama and joy and I guess it is up to each of us to savor the good while we tolerate the not-so-great. Keep writing!

Ah, I liked this and the embarrassment of it all. The cornbread dressing was never mentioned again. It was very well written and you set the story very well. It was as if I was there. Ulla:)))

What a lovely wholesome family story you have written here. Love the back story and wish I knew grandma Bessie and her yellow stuffing. Had a good chuckle at the cute yellow/white prank. I can see happening in my family too.

Very interesting. I guess we now know Grandma Bessie was simply opposed to your mother's doing things her way. Good story and shows that there are many ways to end a debate without words. Things happen during Thanksgiving. It always does Good memories.

Well, it's kind of a shame she did that and humiliated your Grandmother Bessie. A sad thing to do to an old woman who took pride in her cooking. It is a good story and well-written. I see it is a contest entry so I wish you the best of luck.

This grandma is a funny and eccentric character and you manage to tell a couple of stories to convince us.
1. Dating a married man for over 20 years (I have one in my script/book.)
2. Insists that yellow corn bread tasted better until it was busted.
Well done.

Now I just know that you are going to write about grandma Minnie right? You have to do it. There is no way you can leave us in the dark or hanging, wondering about any drama concerning this other grandma. I love your story so much. It is very indicative of real family drama that exists around the subject of food and long held traditions. What your mother did was ill advised. She proved a point but at the cost of grandma Bessie's pride. I hope she felt bad about that later on in life. I wish I had six stars to give this wonderful story. Sadly I do not.
