"Homeward Bound" brings back such memories! I think it would be in my top 50, too. I don't know the Daughtry song as well, but it's a good one.
Simon & Garfunkel were an inextricable part of my youth. Their songs have the poetry, the flavor of the times, but somehow the feeling of rebellion is toned down, and we're left with just the wonder of it. You get the feeling that these guys just basically wanted to play music and tell stories. And they had so many of us listening.

As a New Yorker, I knew you?d love this. The concert in Central Park made me weep.
Sending you my best today as always, and many thanks for the wonderful review,

You're welcome, Sal, as always.
Wow! I don't think I've ever seen S & G, or even just Paul Simon, live in concert. The "59th Street Bridge Song" is one of my favorites -- I've been on it so many times; even walked across it at least once -- during a power failure. My Grandma walked across it, for exercise, just before giving birth to my Mom, over 84 years ago! People were made of some strong stuff, then. I think my Grandpa walked with her. I also love the "Me & Julio" song, although I may have the title wrong -- I can just picture Rosie, the Queen of Corona! I don't live far from there -- Jackson Heights is one or two neighborhoods over. I love the song's Latin American flavor. And we do have a paper called "Newsweek," or at least we did, before the internet.
The 59th Street Bridge was also known as the Queensboro Bridge, but has been renamed the Ed Koch Bridge! If I had grandchildren, maybe they would be able to get used to it, lol.
Lots of blessings and love, Mary Kay xoxo

-Good artwork and songs, Sal,
although I am not familiar
with Daughtry's song.
-Simon and Garfunkel were
classic artists, especially when
they harmonized.
-I would say "Bridge Over Trouble
Water" is one of my favorites
by them, but there are so many.
-I agree about being "Homeward
Bound"; we are home bodies, too!
-Well done.

Sally:
You knocked it out of the park with today's twofer, my friend. No one could ever go wrong with Simon & Garfunkel. Our church just did a series entitled Homeward Bound and started each part of a six-week series with their wonderful song. I loved Daughtry when he was on American Idol. What a pure talent. Both of these songs should resonate in the homebody in any of us.

I didn't know the second one. Simon and Garfunkel, of course, are awesome. I know all their songs. It's hard to say which one is my favorite. This one ranks high.

The reader will be invited to reflect where home is for them The will have a nudge to realize what or who makes it home. There have been times when others have tried to make a place the home for others when we need to come to the ownership of what home is for us. Here's one more that had been recently resurrected.

Hi Sally,
Great choice for #40 on your countdown list. "Homeward Bound" is a beautiful song. My pick would be "The Boxer".
I've never heard of the other gent, Christopher Daughtry, or his song "Home".
Did you ever hear "Home Where I Belong" by BJ Thomas? 1976 was the year it was released. That was the same year I was baptized on Easter Sunday night. I was 25 years old. I love BJ's voice, and he inspired me in my own music. I taught my Youth Choir some of his songs over the next couple of years. Here's the link to "Home Where I Belong"...

But getting back to Paul Simon, the performance that stands out to me was when he sang "Here Comes The Sun" with David Crosby and Graham Nash. Beautiful music! Here's the link:

Both songs are lovely. I"ve always enjoyed Simon and Garfunkel. Home has changed over the years. Homes of my youth don't exist anymore, but it would be nice to visit there once more. Now home is where my loved ones are. Thanks of sharing.

A worthy topic for this month - especially for those of us in lockdown still - a reminder to appreciate our homes! I particularly love the Simon and Garfunkel song and their superb voices. I didn't know Daughtry before. You write your comments beautifully, and it is wonderful to replay the songs and be reminded of the words as well. Thank you.
