I read your poems to inspire me, but, more than that, I learn how to write from them. I can only say that to a few other members of FanStory. Bob was actually one of them, and I am so grateful for your words. Your poem is not just empty praise. You personalize it with your talk of being neighbors in Michigan. You tell the reader that you wanted to meet the man with such talent. That should mean something to his family.
This is a good one, Diane. You did Bob proud.

I am honored by your exceptional rating and complimentary review.
I wrote and posted this piece one day after my family arrived for their week-long visit. I was in such a state of sadness when I penned this piece; I only hoped that I did Bob/Mastery justice. I truly thought Bob would rebound and heal quickly and well. And, yes, we did talk about meeting up with one another; that will always be a terrible regret...

I think Bob thought that he would rebound from his surgery. He just wasn't finished with what he wanted to do. I hate that he did not get to finish his last book. He was so close.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing this fine gentleman. I have gotten a glimpse of who he was through the many fine tributes honoring Mastery's life as a Marine, Family man, friend, and writer.
Your tribute is beautifully written and touching. Excellent rhyming throughout with a very smooth flow. Thanks so much for sharing; my prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

The flow is good but I do have a couple of comma suggestions:
Life(,) at times(,) seemed overwhelmed by Mother Nature's snow.
All the while(,) I dabbled with my biographic rhymes.
Touching lines:
Nevermore to hear your voice again across this state;
Echoes I shall listen for in poems I shall create.
I recommend trimming the second SHALL from that line.
This is a fine contribution to this book...and I feel sure Bob loved it too, reading from over your shoulder!

A great tribute to a great friend, always giving to other struggling writers, and finally succumbing to that illness which plagued him through life.
I never saw him complain as he lost p[ortions of his body, he was ever cheerful and optimistic about his future, and as a matter of fact, about ours.
Missed by many, shunned by none.

Beautiful. It is all the more sad an tragic that Bob is not here to read the heartfelt expressions directed towards him and the masterful effect he had on so many lives. We often hear it said that you should give a person their flowers while they can smell them. That is wonderful in theory, but no one knows the day or hour when they will breathe their last, and it would not be that easy or advisable to render praise all the day long to someone, no matter how much it might be deserved.
