Hi Sally, Nell was one of my favorites...
I knew he wrote a lot of songs...just not that many...
these were days when singers would sing...and you could understand what they were saying...you knew if the hit a bad cord...not today...
I love your story told my sweet friend...and I love the video's and the picture...very well written sweet girl...love you...Linda xxoo

The voices are kept so smooth, with solemn words of not ever winning, as the road takes him down. I like the different versions of these videos. Some games are not always a winner.

Those were the days. I just adore the Carpernters. I still have the LP bought in 1972. In those days I had to travel to the city of Bangalore (200 miles away) and place order with the only record shop. I waited for over a month for the record to be delivered! Nostalgic memories! Thanks very much for the lovely post! I am going to spend next 30 mins listening to these gems.

I am loving your countdown. I'm with Elizabeth Emerald. I love those Neils. I had no idea that Neil Sedaka was such a brilliant musician. It's hard to imagine anyone being in the Juilliard School of Music at age nine.
Thank you for extending the twofer into July. How about August as well?
Thanks again, Sally.

OMG Neil Sedaka . You are hitting all of my favorites. There was & is a golden tone to his voice. It is so relaxing. I don't think I did know Neil Sedaka was an original member of the doo-wop group, The Tokens. O enjoyed the recording of the Carpenters. I probably played both repeatedly. When I was depressed I played all of the sad songs.

Sally:
What a selection for Jukebox Hits #42. Interestingly enough, every song you've selected so far is sung by at least one singer who could easily take up 10 or more of your slots. Neil Sedaka and The Carpenters; unfortunately, Karen Carpenter died much too young.
Thanks for sharing.

More great memories, Sally. I think that I might have had a picture of Neil Sedaka on my bedroom wall when I was a young teen, along with the Bobbies. Thanks again for sharing these songs.

I was not aware of Neil Sadaka's many achievements. Your information is very interesting. The song is so sad. In watching him sing I was struck by the depth of sadness in his eyes. The song seemed personal.

So true about Neil Sedaka and your description about many other musical talents that date back into the early and mid sixties. A walk down memory lane. I enjoy his voice since I find it quite exceptionally different, romantically enticing. I have a few recorded songs that help me find inspiration and a few trips back into the past. Thank you Sally for that entertaining voyage. Much enjoyed. Ed

Neil Sedaka is one of those songwriters who has been a hit as a young man and again, two decades later with retempoed revisions of his own songs. Good stuff.
