Oh great: now you're telling us the real world is, you know--real? At least my cat is happy, stalking around the dusty house, sleeping on my mouse, complaining that she's cold and I should go to bed so she can curl up behind my knees.
This was a wonderfully creative take on the challenge. And see? It rescued you from another 5-7-5!

Haha. Thank you for the fantastic review and chuckle, Tom. Yeah, that boring real world is out there, that's for sure. Lol. I really appreciate the generous stars, friend. I'm glad you liked this silly piece. Hope everything is going well on your end.

Oh, no, life interrupted your writing. Wait, isn't writing suppose to reflect life? So we need to get involved sometimes and actually experience it and create memories?
This is a great reminder to look at priorities.

Get your ass off that stupid poetry site!!!
Now, now you must have been writing somewhere else, right? Remember, we have story writers here too. LOL But you are correct - we do let the site consume us. I don't do poetry, but I love to write - and write and write. I'm glad that you found the time to connect with your daughter - memories that will mean so much to you especially when you are looking for something to write. Smiles!

Thank you for the great review and for throwing the contest, Carol. I had fun with it. I was really just goofing on FS. My girls are nearly 30 years past learning to ride their bikes. Lol. My grandkids are even older than the girl in this story. Yes, we all love writing. I was just over exaggerating. Some do like to write but I doubt they'd go as far as blowing their daughter off to do it. Haha. I'm glad you liked this silliness. Thank you again.

Sounds like the unexpected rescue was well worth it. So good to know that you have people in your life to help you with priorities. I have to count on myself to know when enough is enough and leave the site for a while. Great story and lesson for all of us here on FS. We get so caught up in ranks and stars and such, we lose our sense of what life is really about. Love and friendship and other things like that. Well done, my friend.

Thank you for the great review, Jesse. Yes, we all love writing, sometimes a bit too much. This is really just fiction. My girl's have long since passed the age of 6 by nearly 30 years. Lol. My grandkids are actually older than the girl in this one. I do the same thing. There's times I just have to stop spending so much of this short life on here. I really appreciate the generous stars, friend. I'm glad you liked the piece. Have a great rest of your weekend.

Hello Ron.
I'm glad you liked and appreciated my review. Yes, we all need to step away from the mesmerizing screen every now and again, just to breathe in the fresh cool air and take in the outdoors, for a while.
I spent several hours this morning outside I hope you are able to do the same.

Dragon skulls,
I enjoyed your story very much. The lesson is that writing is important, but family is much more important.
To me, whose family is not next door, writing is my daughter waiting eagerly to teach me a lesson or to have me teach her lessons of my heart. (I do not have a daughter, literally, just figuratively.
Wxcellent work, D S.
Good luck in the contest and always,
Cindy

Lol. I know what you mean. Actually, my girls are past teaching their own kids to ride bikes. I was just having fun with the contest, over exaggerating a bit. Lol. I really appreciate the great review and good luck wishes, Cindy. Thank you. I'm glad you liked the piece.

DS,
This was precious. I am so glad I had the time to read it - it's an important message - funny how we can see when others make this mistake... but not ourselves. Of course, not me. Never me.
hehehe
Great entry!

Haha. I know, me neither.
Thank you for the fantastic review and for stopping by, Robyn. I'm glad you liked my little overly exaggerated story. Lol. Have yourself a great rest of your weekend.

Dear Dragon, One of the most wonderful things about your stories is that they sound so very true; that it was really you teaching that little girl how to ride a bike.
Every time you post, I find myself asking the same question of you. Is this story or poem, autobiographical?

Lol. Hi, Suzanna. You can pretty well bet that if it's something I've written it's not autobiographical. Haha. Me writing something about real life comes few and far between. My girls are close to 30 years past learning to ride their bikes. My grandkids are older than the girl in this piece. Lol. I just love goofing around, poking fun at the site here and there. I just had to over exaggerate some people's addiction to FS for this one. I really appreciate the gracious stars and review. I'm glad you liked this silly piece. Thank you.

Normally I do not review long verses or posts, but your picture and title captured my attention.
My better half says the same thing about my attention to my iPad but I don't have my grandkids near me. So I am off the hook a little with her complaint.

Lol. Thank you for the great review and stopping in, Mark. This is all just goofing around. My grandkids are actually older than the little girl in here. Me spending the time do on here would have never flown with my wife way back in the day. Haha. I just love poking fun at the site once in a while. I appreciate the stars, friend. Thank you again.

The word count would appear to be spot on the 250 words required by the contest sponsor, interestingly named 'Begin Again', which is probably what you had to do when you got back to FanStory and your rescue was done.
Whether it is being rescued from a collapsed building or from the grip of a 5-7-5, a rescue is something for which we should all be grateful.

You made me smile here and you put your time to good use and was even able to write a contest entry into the bargain,
Just one suggestion:
"Don't worry, I'm sure you'll need (rescuing) again here some day soon."
Much enjoyed, love Dolly x
