HAHAHAHAHA. Oh, Colin, you slay me!! Would you get the sixty part, I'm assuming, since it was your idea I put it on my hand for the memory jog?

Cannot understand Deadline arh, whats it all about Giraffes etc.. then i can put a comment lol. Help is needed please . Oh ok 50/50 then

Yes. You're misled to think the person is talking about a spider so big it has to be shot. But it turns out he's a photographer who's going to lose his job if he doesn't get a usable picture of twin baby giraffes to his boss by the end of the day.

Hi Rachelle :)
What a great story, I don't know what to say! How did you feel when you realised you could've scooped the big one?! I'd've been gutted LOL - not because I want to be rich, but it would be so nice to not have to think about where every penny goes.
Your last line made me chuckle!
Best wishes as always, Debra :) x

I'm one of those Perpetually Suspicious and Wary types, especially in the area of money. For me, I can never imagine my life better as a result of it. So when I realized the enormity of what had almost happened, I felt as if I had dodged a bullet. xo

I wouldn't want to win a load - I wouldn't know what to do with it. But it would be nice to be comfortable :)

I hear that. xo

A very well-written short story about luck, it will happen with me too when I may decide to play, I will be way off, but when I have numbers in my head but decides not to play, the numbers would have won at least something.

Murphy's Law!!!
Comment from Sophia Delgado
Oh my goodness!! That's amazing and terrible luck at the same time. Murphy's law aside, that's a painful stroke. I too oppose the lottery--it's a waste of money--but now I definitely believe in Saxman luck.

To me, the luck came in discovering early on that marrying that man was a huge mistake!
Thanks for the terrific review, Sophia! xo

I am glad your family had luck. My mother always said if our ship came in we would be on a plane going the other way. If he would have wished for a tie and gotten a losing ticket he would have been happy, because at least you tried.

That is a well written and funny story from this vantage point. However it sounds like it was not fun at the time. Maybe it's good you didn't win because then you would've had to split a lot of money with someone who would now be your ex.

LOL! I really can't blame him. You're lucky he didn't have a gun... or didn't use it if he did. Such a thing would bring on instant insanity, and no jury would find him guilty. "We find the poor husband innocent by reason of insanity, brought on by his wife. For her, we recommend 90 years to life."

Wow! It appears that the thrill was long gone in that marriage. Newly married couples desire to make the other happy because of the honeymoon feeling last awhile. Maybe you and your ex were not that much into each other.

I really wouldn't know, so consider that thought, too, Rachelle.

Great story - and oh my - I reckon you're of the clan that always wins. I do buy small doses of tickets just cuz' . And only when I have a few bucks extra not all the time.
Great story telling. Poor man - he'll feel cheated now for months. Buy him a tractor - he'll feel better.

This was a journal entry from 20 years ago. I'm hoping he's finally over it. I'm certainly over him!!
Thanks for the nice review, Gail. xo

And to think... you could have never had to read anything and posted everything at the top of every single page! (kind of a pet peeve of mine... but still) But you would have missed out on half of the FS experience. The more valuable one if you ask me. I think I've learned more from R&R than from writing! (almost!) ;)
