And as I mentioned, I am out of sixes. This is awesome. And you claim you have never punched anyone? This is one of the best things I have read and a wonderful description of the those who feel "entitled". To hell with them, we are all entitled to a certain extent, are we not? This is a strong, well-laid out piece of writing that informs and describes what is going on in our society, the loss of manners, integrity and compromise. You did a wonderful job with this piece!

I really appreciate your words and backing on this, Wendy. Thank you for always writing exactly what I need to read. xo

That poor girl! Sounds like the mother-in-law from hell for starters. As you say, for some, it's all about them and theirs and to hell with all others.
I looked up 'in lieu of' and came up with 'in place of' or 'instead of' so I wonder if it's quite the right choice here.
Cheers. Judy

Ha! You are entirely right about people so used to getting every whim satisfied that they have no sense whatever about politeness, let alone diplomacy or genuine compromise. Yet, there is justice because, no matter how smugly they view each seeming victory, deep inside they are perpetually miserable, as nothing is ever enough. Well done.

You are EXACTLY right, Walker Man. Thank you for this terrific review. xo

You are welcome, Rachelle. They are victims of their own insatiable wants, creating a worse Hell on Earth for themselves than for others they come in contact with, as the latter is brief but the former is endless. -- Mike

Extremely well put, WalkerMan! xo

Now, normally, Rachelle, I would say something like, "from your lips..." but I guess that last bit was perhaps the other way around wasn't it! LOL So... The poor bride was marrying Groomzilla to the Jurassic Park Overture??? That's soooo funny!!!! I feel so bad for her... and her whole family... how long do you think that one will last... 6 months? A year?

Yeah, it's anyone's guess. But for her sake, I hope she's gotten out. (Btw, the day of their wedding it absolutely poured, and Recital Day, the next day, was sunny, warm, and beautiful.) [NOT that I'd be gleeful and vindictive or anything, of course, Susan...] xo

Seems to me you played this one just right, Rachelle. I hate arrogance in any way, shape, or form and these people were full of it. :) I can't believe she chose that song as her entrance song. Classic! Nicely written as always. You always make the reader feel like we are right there with you.

It never ceases to amaze me the arrogance some have become conditioned by, by father, mother, school, awards, recognition, and generally life status that, seemingly, guarantees them a life of privilege at the expense of those less lauded and resourceful at winning; especially, where there is no intermediary process to level the playing field against bully and prey.
All too often, one is left to fend for themselves, and almost as often to their own peril by standing-up to such flagrant disregard for common courtesy and respect with sheer frustration that spurs less than congenial results, let's say, that assures the higher-up mucky-mucks that the spoiled bullies are validated in their demands ... and, so it goes, on into even further total dysfunction -- even tragedy.
I am left to wonder if there will ever be a sensibly righteous answer for all situations where class and presumed privilege is involved.
Beautiful writing, as usual, of one of life's true events ... and, in such a way it makes this man smile in the end!
Thanks for sharing, Rachelle! ~ Richard : )

I totally agree that there is a generation of people who have no concept of not getting their way. They also have to have their way immediately. Such folks have little or no respect for the rights of others, hence there can be no diplomacy.
I enjoyed your piece immensely, but I'm a little confused with the last line. You just made that up for a good ending, right? You are just saying that Jurassic Park was given to you as a gratuitous blessing for having to endure such rudeness. It was a gift from God, just like he said You're welcome. Alternatively, you could glance to the heavens and say "thank you." Just an idea. The piece is very good. I think I am just trying too hard to be helpful.
As to my doctor visit, my doctor thinks that I caught a bug on the ship and just can't shake it. So, she put me on antibiotics and something for my nerves. I'll keep you posted. I hope she is right.

First, that's encouraging about the diagnosis for why you've been so unwell...though, of course, I'm sorry to read that it happened while you enjoying a cruise. Oy.
The "you're welcome" from G-d came because He let me witness the ridiculousness of having Jurassic Park be what the bride of Groomzilla would choose as her wedding march. The situation was ugly, but her choice of music was even worse. That was fitting and a symbolic piece for the situation.
Thanks for your validating review. xo

That's exactly what I thought.

Okay, Phew!! Thanks for letting me know, Debbie. xo

Goes without saying that this is well written, entertaining, and honest. Real victims were the piano students having their practice disrupted. You were standing up for them.
Of course with hindsight's super vision it's easy to see that the bridal party should have asked the administration to do the heavy lifting in the first place instead of storming the chapel themselves.
Seems like you kept your cool under very trying circumstances
Blessings, Julia

Well, I did for awhile. But then when that woman put the cell phone in my face, I lost my patience. That was enough already. As a result, we were banned from ever holding another recital there. (I'm serious...) But, still, there was wicked satisfaction for me in the fact that Recital Day had sunny, beautiful weather, and it was cold and crazy-rainy on the day of their wedding. xo

Ha! That's because they stormed the chapel ;)
-
HAHAHAH. You're right! So symbolic!! hahahaha

Priceless! And speaking of funny, there's this! I think you are on to something here, people are emboldened by social media. The more outlandish they can make their daily interactions, the more they have to write about on Facebook. This time, it was you who made me laugh.

Nothing can interfere with a bride, a groom, and pompous parents, Odd that it is a groomzilla. Rachelle this is well written and to the point.
