Hahahaha, Sandra, I adored that last one. Thank goodness, she didn't start to cook them. I doesn't bear thinking. I loved all the other idioms, as well, and knew all of them albeit not the history behind them. I'm learning all the time. A big hug, Ulla xxx

I did, but made sure it was true before writting it down, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you, Ulla, for all those glorious stars and wonderful review. Love and hugs, my friend, and have a wonderful new year. :)) Sandra xx

And you as well. I hope for the best in the new year. Christmas has been a bit hectic for me. Most of my family in America is down with Covid, my brother is the only one who is okay, so far. My Sister-in-Law is not too well. The rest are having symptoms like a severe cold, So I've been on whatsapp a lot. xxx

Well done Graham - they say fact is stranger than fiction, and he certainly nailed it with this one. Having said that, can you imagine waking up from a drunken stupor, only to discover you'd been plucked? - It doesn't bear thinking about!
Happy New Year, my dear friend. I look forward to your posts in 2022

Hello, my dear friend---
Happy to see you plugging away and already planning for the upcoming year. I made it through Christmas which is a "treat" in itself and have new thoughts for the New Year too.
I enjoyed your idioms because I have heard of these ones. But I loved the story about the ducks... and it's true besides. What a wonderful thought that she plucked them and didn't cut off their heads for realizing they weren't really dead. Oh my gosh, I think I would have dropped over myself they'd started squeaking while I plucked. LOL
As always, I send you all my hugs and love and wish you well in the New Year. Take care!!!
Love ya, Carol

That's the last of them for a while, at least until I've got my novel up and running. I'm not as clever as you writing lots at the same time! You will have to share your magic with me!! Lol. Thank you sweet friend, I'm delighted you enjoyed these, and the duck story. One of my reviewers has actually been to the Drunken Duck Inn, and she told me it's worth a visit, so we'll probably go later in the year. How weird was that??
Thank you so much, my dear friend, for those lovely stars, and this lovely review. You always brighten my day. Love you lots, and wish you nothing but good health and happiness next year. :)) Sandra xx

I really want to focus on getting published so as soon as I can start polishing...the happier I will be. It's something I promised and something I want to do so badly. Smiles!!!

-I always like your artwork and humor, Sandra.
-This is going to be my new 'go to' phrase:
"Excitabat fluctus in simpulo" once I learn how to say it!
-It sounds like a spell from Harry Potter!
-What was that Canterbury Tales series all about?
I never heard of one being on t.v. or were you
pulling our leg?!
-Thanks for sharing the duck story, too.
Did their feathers grow back?
-I am intrigued by the title of your new book!!
-I will look forward to it.

Lol, I asked Graham, and he didn't know, so I went straight to my trusty friend, Google!! Lol. Yes. Duck feathers grow back. Ducks naturally lose and replace their feathers regularly... So now you know, and so do I. I'm going to try and find out how to say it, too. I might sound clever then. :))
Yes, the Canterbury Tales is a series of six single dramas that originally aired on our BBC One channel in 2003. Each story is an adaptation of one of Geoffrey Chaucer's 14th-century Canterbury Tales. Repeats of the series in the UK have been on channels most of our channels. I'm sure you might be able to find them.
Thank you so much for the six stars, my dear friend, and this really fun review. Love and hugs, Sandra xxx Ps I'm glad you like my new book's title! xxxxx

I'm glad your trusty friend Google had an answer. I didn't know that about ducks. I knew water rolled off their backs, though! I guess that would be the same as birds that molt, too.
Thanks for sharing about the Tales. I'll have to do some looking. You are very welcome and deserving of the stars and review, my friend. Now, about that title; I wonder who or what is returning, hmmmm:) I hope we are going to like this person/thing:):)

I enjoyed reading these idioms. The story of the drunk ducks is hilarious, and she knitted them little sweaters. How sweet. I'm glad you had a great Christmas, and hope the coming year will bring nothing but good to you. Love you lots.

Oh my dear SATP, what is happening with us trying to get a chat together? After tomorrow I will be totally free of visitors and cooking. The same has happened with Jim.
I'm really pleased you liked the drunk ducks story, Graham has lots of those types of stories, they are fun. I hope you have a much better 2022, and keep safe and covid free. Love you lots, too! :)) Sandra xxx

I loved the story of the drunk ducks. It's cute. Of the idioms the only one I have heard of was the first one, 'A Fish Out Of Water;' I am so enjoying reading these. It's fun.

Thank you so much, Barbara, I'm glad you enjoyed reading these. And I'm glad you've managed to sort your post out. I did that once, a long time ago. Happy New Year, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

I can still remember the old toilets where one had to "spend a penny". They existed when I was young, and if one was broke, I don't know what they would do, that's where I wonder what the homeless do. The "pay to pee" still exist in the eastern block countries. But now the public toilets are free. Happy new year Sandra, blessings Roy

There aren't that many public loos on the streets here anymore, they've all been put in the large shopping precincts and are free of charge as well as being better looked after. The homeless can go in and have a wash and brush up there, too. I do feel so sorry for those people, especially this time of year when it is so cold.
Thank you so much, my dear friend, for your lovely thoughts on these, it's been such fun learning the origins of them all. Happy New Year to you, too! We'll chat in the New Year on Messenger. Love and hugs, Sandra xx

Fortunately we have lots of shopping centres, small and large, fast food outlets etc.
-
The high streets are dying out here now, such a shame. xx
-
We live in a modernish city, so we only have shopping centres. The older cities still sport street shops, but mostly coffee lounges and eating places.

Thank you for looking up the origins and sharing all these silly sayings with all of us on FanStory. I, for one, loved each and every one. I never heard the teapot saying before, so I learned something new today. Who says an old dog cn't learn new tricks, or sayings in this case.
