Nicely done for this poem - and the poor fox - he's only eating to stay alive. our son has a farm - and they lose a few chickens now and then - proabably to raccoons. they can get into the smallest space.s

Hi Melissa

I like the words you use. They are descriptive and evoke a response from your reader. How can anyone not understand the circumstance when you use words like:

"grasses brown
buzzing drones
earthy smell
jackets of a bright red luster"

This is the sign of a wonderfully talented writer to this reader. Well done!

xoxo Kiwi

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere, and even the cunning or shrewd hunter can become a hunt; well said, well done. Liked and enjoyed the read. Keep Writing, Inspiring, Changing

I'm impressed that you know Pushkin's epic poem - novel in poem, "Eugene Onegin." I read it in college in Russian. When I read your notes, I read your poem again (in Windows instead of my phone screen which ruined your format.) I think you did a stellar job in telling a story as well as keeping to the classic meter and rhyming form!

Best wishes for your contest entry. Foxes? Well, they were introduced by the British way back in the 1800's for their sport of hunting on horseback. Your poem speaks much of the fox, the rhyming is great, as is the presentation. Thanks for the author's notes in depth. Blessings, K.

Your poem is outstanding, Melissa. Every word is perfectly placed in just the right spot to make this a delight to read. Best of luck in the contest with this fine piece. (I'm thrilled the fox was gone to ground and wasn't killed.) A bloodthirsty "sport." Artwork is gorgeous. Marilyn

I guess foxes don't get old by being dumb. He had his chicken dinner and now he's going to crawl into a den somewhere and digest it, far away from the hunters. Good luck in the contest.

Hello Melissa!
Absolutely stellar!
No!
Captivatingly wonderful!
Afraid I lack the correct complimentary verbiage, it know for a certainty that your Onegin is masterful from its form to its rich visual and emotive language!
Thank you for sharing!
Kudos!
