I happen to think this contest entry is funny. I can see wanting to have a little fun. It makes since to me, but my boys got their ornery streak honestly. LOL Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Thank you Barbara. I was amused by it too but my cousin wasn't amused and she was disappointed I wasn't able to solve what she thought was a terrible problem.

Thanks for starting my day off with a smile. Although the subject matter isn't in the least bit funny, some of the things that Alzheimer and Dementia patient say and do can be. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I know. I kind of feel guilty about betraying her concerns by writing about it. She wanted me to call the cops or get of her out of there. She said she would die if one of the guys came into her shower. Her daughter blew her off and told her she was safe. It would be so aweful to lose you mind and let your imagination take over.

Yes, it is awful what some people have to go through. :-)

I can just imagine this scene, even though I agree with the narrator that there aren't going to be locks on the showers. The men are all "on the prowl" - maybe that was the fantasizing cousin's dream!
I liked the presentation with the old man and the fun font that you used - gave the whole thing a fun feeling to start my Sunday off!
Have a lovely day,
Pam

Thank Pam, I appreciate the review and comments. It doesn't take much to get a lot of excitement going over at the nursing home.

A laugh, a chuckle, or even a giggle are always welcome. Too much gloom and doom in the world without having to read it here. Maybe the old men just want a peek. hahahahaha

Thanks for the review. I'm glad you got a chuckle from this. I couldn't help but laugh as well, but my cousin quite worked up. She couldn't understand why I couldn't do anything about the problem.

You made me smile when reading this short story. Can you imagine what the ladies would do if they could not have a shower... probably use the men's showers if they could.

Thank you Rosemary. I appreciate the review. I feel bad for my cousin because she really sounded worried but I know she'll be find. She lets her mind run away with her. I couldn't help but laugh because I'm sure she is safe from any peeking Toms.

I know the routine. I live with 14 sick women, four guys who are a tad younger than me. Nothing gets past either so I stay to myself but go driving in the quiet of the day. LOL. I can see your story unfolding.

Me too. I live not in a nursing home but in a apartment complex. My first. After Mary died, I either sold or gave everything away. I am close to my children and great-grandchildren, The kids have my place near the lake

I wonder, does your cousin have Alzheimer's? Not that it matters to the storyline. This was funny in an odd sort of way. You would think that nature would have a valve that automatically turns off the sexual urge in men -- especially when they are not able to satisfy it.
I doubt there is locks on the showers. [OOps! I doubt there ARE locks on the showers. I know you know better and it was just an oversight, something that I do all the time.]
Also, you need a period at the end of your story.
Other than those two minor things, you have a fine entry in the flash fiction contest.

I don't know if it is Alzheimers or dementia but she has a problem. There is a little fiction here because she actually hung up on be ecause I told her I couldn't have the cops go out to protect her. I 'm sure those who are bathing her won't let her be harmed. Several years ago my aunt in a nursing home had a problem with an old man insisting on using her garbage can as his commode. She hit him with her cane.
Thanks for noticing my spags.

You have one small error in the story. It should be, I doubt there (are) locks on the showers, not (is). Otherwise, it is a cute and well-written story. Best of luck in the contest.

This is such a funny story and the fact that you wanted to chime in to start a rumor just for the fun is even more hilarious. I hear that people are having a lot of fun at the nursing homes. I assume that you are still living alone and too young and too healthy to go there. Don't you want to move to a retirement center just for the fun?
Well done.
By the way, I think flash fiction is supposed to be fiction only. You can say it's a piece of fiction.

I think I did call it fiction. There is enough fiction there to qualify it as fiction. Actually, she hung up on me because I refused to call the cops to go to the nursing home to protect her. She said she thought she die if anyone tried to rape her. LOL
