Another riveting scene, Jay. I'm glad it's not the last. Love the discursive tone of the letter. No such thing as a tweet in those days! LOL
A couple of highlights: Fanny's simileWith red wax, like a squished bug
and your description of the archetypical poet: in such close contact with her emotions that she couldn't hide them from herself. Brilliant!

Thank you, Tony, for your always lovely words and your six stars. I've been worried about you. I hope you're feeling fine. I'm glad you're back reviewing. I kinda, sorta hope you're planning on waiting one more week before posting your own work ... which is always too good to award only a five to. (There were some good things written over the weekend and I'm down to only fives.) Are you safe from those damnable fires there? Oh, and your wife ... how's she feeling, post-covid? Tell me everything!

I still haven't got back into a writing routine, Jay. Our recovery from Covid is proving to be long drawn out, despite four vaccinations and a course of antivirals.
I'll soon be fully engaged in a structural edit of The Ponyfish, with relatively little time to spare for The Orphan' Tale, but hope to keep going with the latter, albeit slowly.
All good wishes to you and yours, Tony.

Lol, no need to apologize. I'm totally enthralled by the twists and turns of the plot and Fanny's ability to string along the reporter with one twist after another. I would, however, wrap up this one with one more scene that finally gets to the core events that change Juni. Good job.

LOL, believe me, I'm working as fast as I can. I'm going to be reduced to a slavering idiot if I don't get away from her dialect.
Comment from Carol Hillebrenner
I see where you still need more words for getting to the secret and look forward to the answer. Fanny's dialect seems to be getting harder to read again.

I'm hoping one more scene does it. I'm outlining it now, but it probably won't post for another two weeks. I'm so slow!

Excellent as always. I know this must be close to the end. I don't want the story to end, but I do want to find out what happened. You did a great job. Enjoy your Sunday afternoon. Shirley

Shirley, you are so sweet. Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I'm hoping one more chapter does the trick. Thanks for the six lovely stars.

Fanny is delightful and her being an entertainer is perfect for us who don't want this play to end. I will miss it if it ends. Please post many more additions. LOL

Well ... you are one of the few who wants this to continue. But you make my heart flutter (kind of dangerous at my age) in appreciation. Thank you for the lovely 6 stars!

LOL, well, dang, blame it on Fanny! A book of yours I read on Amazon, I thought the character did the same thing, just did not want that story to end! Till next time...Good work! Terry.

Thank you, Terry. Yeah, Noah Winter -- I rather liked that character and even thought of continuing on as a series, but ran out of steam.
-
LOL, I can imagine you running out of steam!

I'm hoping the final scene will be memorable. I'm counting on it because there will be about a two week hiatus before I provide a DY-NO-MITE Epilogue-ic post. You won't want to miss that one.
-
LOL, looking forward to it!

Fannie's quite a character and one I'm sure all of us readers will be entertained by for as long as your script keeps pulling us along LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Ric. I'm sure hoping I can wrap it up in one more scene, but Fanny just doesn't like to give up the spot light.
Comment from Ulla
Hi, Jay, she indeed is, isn't she? Our good Fanny. Besides, the train is now delayed so we still have time to get into more detail and get to the final punch line. As you can tell, I just love this story. The interaction between Fanny and the reporter is priceless. Ulla:)))

You and a few other Fanny-ites never stop amazing me. At a time I can't think I can write one more of Fanny's fractured lines, along come readers like you who dearly love the old Dame. Thank you for your continued loyalty, Ulla!
-
Well, there you go. You can't let us down quite yet then, can you? Lol...
Comment from John Ciarmello
I'm now a happy camper knowing this is not the end! I thought when Herbie came for the reporter; he would end the interview. Thank you for the broken rail and the hour delay. Ha! Loved it, Jay.

Thank you, John. This one and one more should bring down the final curtain. But wait (like those 4 AM commercials announce) after a hiatus of about a week, you can expect an epilogue-ic last hurrah! John, you're the best!

I will be waiting in my seat then, after the final curtain. I'm sure I won't be the only one!

I really enjoyed your bit. I sometimes struggle when writers write dialogue in anything else but standard English, because often it isn't well done and reads awkwardly and really clunky. But you've done it perfectly, I found myself more engaged with how Fanny would phrase something than what she's said (possibly only because I've come across this scene first, so am not that much of an expert on the overall plot). But overall the scene was engaging, interesting and definitely entices me to read more (or back in this case). Well done!

Bless you, JP! I'm always thrilled to see someone who's picked this up for the first time and got all the way to the end. After 15 "chapters" of this play I'm starting to act, talk, spell, and probably smell a bit like Fanny. I'll be so much obliged if you read the final act next time ... and a one-shot epilogue that, I promise, won't disappoint.
