I loveeeeed this story! It was so humorous and really real. The real estate agent description was soooo vivid and a little too real with how they really act.

This post resonated with me. The house my wife and I bought for $55,000.00 back in 1978 is now valued at about $500,000.00 now. I would love to sell and move to a much smaller place. My adult children and adult grand children all say: "No. You can't sell our home." None of them even live here anymore, but they object to losing the house they view as their inheritance.

Well, if you wanna sell, then you go right on and sell!! ;) :) 'cuz their inheritance can come in many different forms... heck, you gave them the most precious inheritance of all: LIFE!! ;) :) But I am so glad you enjoyed this one, sir -- thanx so much for dropping by and you take care out there! ;) Yvette

Fun to read all the way through, particularly even more so for those of us who remember the sixties. My Mom had a thing for burnt orange. Then avocado came into vogue. Oh yes, those curtains!

LOL -- we had many of those colors in my childhood home as well! ;) So glad you enjoyed my fun time here, Susan -- not sure where this came from, but once the pen started it was a hit with the muse! ;) Take care and have a wonderful week and STAY WARM! ;) Yvette
P.S. I do apologize for the delay -- crazy times 'round here! ;) Be sure to stop by again sometime... ;) :)

I think I saw that you did well in the contest. Congrats!

So deserving of a six, but alas my quiver is absent them. I must learn to be more discreet. Sort of a good recipe for retirement as well, I am sure.
This has to be a winner in this contest. It made it to my top pick for certain.
All the best and God's continued blessings as well. Loren

Aaaah... they do but give us six! ;) Thanx so much for your great review, sir: so glad you enjoyed my fun time here -- not sure where this came from, but once the pen started it was a hit with the muse (when he/she was still 'round...sigh)! ;) Take care and have a wonderful week and STAY WARM! ;) Yvette
Again, I apologize for the delay.... still wrapping my head around things down here... ;) ;) ;)

This is a really clever piece of mistaken identity and misinterpreted reaction. I too have mastered the 'techniques of aging' in my place as well. I wish someone like Mr Duncan would call with a similar offer even given the dollar GBP exchange rate. Any reasonable offer would be accepted.

Hi Yvette dear,
Ha Ha Ha Ha , such indeed are the tricks and pranks of the RE world
and its exploitive and deceptive sale practices, even when humorously
related, and no doubt totally confusing with loaded trick promises
and astounding fortune when experienced in person, in reality or
fiction! Great job in the dialogue of rogue RE agent, confused
hubby, and the tight rope walking in between by lady homeowner!
This was a riot to read, brought back some instant flashbacks
of my sale of my house in CA.... except mine wasn't fiction....LOL...
Thanks for sharing....take care I hope your real move and new
home is totally a fantastic one!
Love, blessings always, Ronni (:)

I thought this was great. You did a great job with the jumbled dialogue and the real estate agent talking over his overwhelmed and surprised host, and the whole thing is obviously a mistake that ends up netting the couple a cool half million. I loved how you kept going on about the retro look of the house as if it had been designed that way, while it was obviously stuck in a time warp of two people who never remodeled. This had great personality and it had lots of polish on top of being well orchestrated. estory

Hilarious! Black mould = molecular resurfacing? Amazing stuff - all the more so because this knee slapping story is told through dialogue alone. Well done and good luck in the contest.
