What with the cold, starving, abseiling, and sprained ankles, not to mention the police still after them, this is not what I'd call a good trip! lol, my word, this is all hairy stuff. I'm wondering what will happen next, and I'm lucky enough to be able to go and find out! Well done, my friend, another excellent part. )) Sandra xxx

There's not a great deal else I can throw at them - or is there? It reminds me of flight simulator training with one emergency after another being thrown at you until you go weak at the knees.

Another good chapter - danger, hiding, finding a way out, rock slide. All the elements - plus the police examining the van - what is "abseiled" - that's a new one. I like the laughter of the river.
good job.

Glad you're still enjoying this one. Abseiling and rappelling are synonymous. Rappel is apparently more common in the US. Abseil, which is from the German, is often used in British English. They both mean scaling a rockface with the use of ropes and associated mountaineering equipment.

Well sir, rappeling or abseiling is sure not for me - altho I have photographed some high rock climbers awhile back. Scary.

-This is a good transition chapter, Tony.
-We see Helen and Charles trying
to survive the wintry conditions surrounding them.
-Obviously, the police are still a worry, and they
have to be very careful as they try to make their
way out of here.
-It doesn't help when a stone, rock, or piece of ice
causes a slip, and debris goes down the mountain.
-Helen's ankle doesn't help, either.
-Provisions don't sound plentiful, and now Charles
has lost his knapsack.
-I think the vultures were a good foreshadowing tool-
the motto would be "get out while you can!"

Thanks very much for your review, Pam, and for your comments. These two amateurs seem to be heading for trouble!
-
You are very welcome and deserving, Tony. I think trouble is their middle name, and then some!

Hello Tony,
Another excellent chapter as our tourist/spies take to foot
across the snow covered area leaving a trail a boy scout could follow,
not that they have much choice.
And now the backpack is gone, probably with his passport papers
they were told not to lose.
Oh what fools these mortal be...
Nicely done

These two amateurs don't seem to be doing too well, do they? As you will see in the next chapter, the trail was easy to follow. and the loss of documents is an embarrassment. All good wishes, Tony

Hi Tony. this is yet another great chapter in your story. They are really a long way from home, and with all their injuries, will they ever make it home? Let alone find what they've come for? All the best. Ulla:))

Great! Charles loses his bag. Helen has aggravated the hurt on her foot climbing the rocky surface which is going to delay the process. Hope she is able to make contact with one of the householders residing in the huts on the outskirts of Gabhirat and they can offer them some hospitality in what I believe is a hostile place.

Many thanks for your review and comments, Sylvia. I've a feeling that things might get worse for them before they get better. All good wishes, Tony

This was another strong chapter, I think. The dialogue was crisp and you kept up a nice tete a tete between Charles and Helen that balanced the strengths and weaknesses of each; Charles leaning on Helen's knowledge of the area, out of necessity; Helen leaning on Charles because of her twisted ankle, and the two of them leaning on each other as the rocks give way and the scree slides down the slope, with boulders crashing over their heads. Nice descriptive language makes the snow covered scene come alive. We can feel the cold, feel their hunger as they bite into those granola bars. There's good foreshadowing in those vultures coming down to roost, an ominous sign. Overall, good action, a sense of foreboding, and tension in the air. estory

I love her determination, willpower. I just hope she doesn't injure her ankle more. The chapter is well-written, interesting, suspenseful. I look forward to reading more.

Another excellent chapter in your book that is punctuated by the visit of vultures hoping for a meal. That is a nice touch to an already dangerous situation. You do a great job describing the scenery and the landslide.

A very well-written chapter. It's best to stay invisible from the police no one can predict how they may react when they find people survived the accident and throw them in jail.
