Many years ago Art Linkletter made himself a tidy little fortune capturing the words of children both in written form and on television. If your picture says witch it is Samantha. LOL

Cute and real. They do say the most wonderful things. Linkletter made a career of talking to those young 'uns - and it was always funny. Hmmm. Do I dare ask my younger g.kids what they think of me. Not sure I have the nerve.
Good story.

Don't do it, Gail!! (But if you do, please let me know what they say!)
Thanks for the cute review. xo

Hi Rachelle :)
You can always rely on a five year old to give you a brutally honest opinion, and as you said, there's no malice, even if there opinion is the last thing you wanted to hear! I love lesson a) - the limited dose of honesty is definitely recommended (if you're feeling a little fragile!)
I'd love to see the contents of your dress up box, I mean, wardrobe! hehe!
Really enjoyed this piece, thanks for sharing :)
Best wishes as always, Debra :) x

It's true, Debra; every day is Dress-Up Box Style Day!!
I love this review; thank you! xo

LOL! I lovvve it. It's true, you can count on kids for the truth as they see it. Five-year-olds speak their minds. They haven't developed societal filters yet. We adults are used to friendly lying to make us feel better. Kids? They respect truth--much more than we adults do.

That's why I love being around children. They will never lead you down the wrong path. You just have to listen carefully - and have a reeeeeeally strong ego!!

I love that little ones have no malice in their honesty...they call it as they perceive it,and who can't appreciate unbridled comments as perceived through the eyes of a little one?--Karenina

Hmmm. Usually I can decipher Autocorrect, but this one has me stumped. What was 'campervan' in its original form, Miss Karenina?
But you're right about the beauty of honesty-without-malice. Children usually say what the rest of us merely think. xo
-
Hah! Well! I HATE autocorrect! Sorry about that. It WAS suppose to be "unbridled comments when..." (I have corrected it in the new improved and slightly more coherent review). UGH! I'm blushing!--Karenina
-
No, don't it happens to EVERYONE...and sometimes they're quite funny. A piano student's mom sent a message that read, "I need to cancel Layna's herpes today." I wrote back, "I don't blame you...but I didn't know that was an option!"
-
They should call it " Autoerror"!!!!!--Karenina
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! Now THAT's penny!!!! [haha. See what I did there... ]
-
I did see what you did! SO much funnier when done intentionally! (still blushing)--Karenina
Comment from Ulla
hahahahaha, Rachelle, we have a saying in Danish, and I translate litterally: 'You'll always hear the truth from a drunkard or a child'. well it seems to be the point you're making. All best. Ulla:)))

I enjoyed your story, Rachelle. You have it right. Those youngsters will always say whatever is on their minds regardless. You presented this well. The black hat scenario was funny--maybe not at the time, but in retrospect. Thanks for sharing. Jan

I honest-to-gawd found it hilarious as it happened. It was such a classic moment.
Thanks for the fun review, Jan. xo

This is why I love your stories so much, Rachelle! They're too funny! You're right too, there's nothing like the honest commentary from a little one to set you to rights sometimes... I once had a little girl in my son's class, (kindergarten I think) tell me that it was time to dye my hair, it was getting really gray... LOL From the mouths of babes! It was completely true and I had to take care of it that night because Althea called me out on the playground! LOL

Ditto. I had a six-year-old ask me one time if I dyed my hair. When I told her I did, she asked why I didn't dye "that gray strip down the middle." HAHAHAHAH. I told her next time maybe I'd do that.
Thanks for a delightful, funny review. xo

Small children are so honest and so literal. Somewhere along the way, some of them turn mean and tacky. I love what small children say in their innocence.

Me, too, damommy. I have always kept little notebooks of comments that have amused me. Whenever my day starts to go south, I just pull one out, read a few pages, and voila! I'm happy again.
Thanks for your nice review. xo

I keep a notebook like that, too. Things I've heard or read. Wow! Fancy that we both do.

No wonder we get along so well!!

I'll be thinking about you, too. Remember what I said about having lots of chocolate and tissues on hand that day!!!
About Barbie clothes, I came down to breakfast one day in my favorite silk magenta skirt suit, and my teenager's oh-so catty comment (who doesn't love 16-year-old girls?) was, "Oooh! Don't we look BARBIE today!!!" (sighhh)
Anyway, thank you for your fun and delightful review! xo
