LOL... I was going to say that it sounds like you're at a deli. "You have to take a number." He points to a large, red-bellied ticket dispenser exactly like the one at the kosher deli counter." You have some wonderful metaphors and similes in this chapter. This seems kind of like a surreal situation: What would YOU do if you were the only person in a phlebotomist's office and yet the staff acted as if it were filled to the rafters?" Funny

Are you near Middlesex at all, Liz? That's where my best friend in the world/college roommate lives!
-
I'm near southern VT down near Brattleboro. That is the other end of VT

Gotcha. Every year, she and I meet up in Lake George, NY, because it's halfway between our two houses.

Haha! You - my friend - are a natural comedic writer. Every sentence comes with your wry commentary - and I bet that runs through your life as you think as well.
I liked your description of the setting. Without it we wouldn't have been so firmly placed in this one, single, boring room.
Will Ferrell's humorless twin for the absolute win. Well done!

Thank you, my friend. I appreciate this so much. xo

LOL Perhaps this is the only way the staff there can feel as if they have any purpose in life? IDK
I found no errors in your work. I hope you don't have to go back there very often. It does indeed sound like torture!
All the very best,
Jan

Hahaha. No, when I need to do my bloodwork for my annual physical now, I use a different place.
I love this review, Jan; thank you. xo

Well told. I hate it when people and organisations try to treat you as a number - horribly dehumanising. My only suggestion would be that you include the meaning of phlebotomy in the text with a few words like 'to give blood'.

Thanks, tfawcus. Other reviewers told me that, and I thought I'd put it in the Author's Notes at the bottom! Now I'm going to go check.
I appreciate your review and also having my back! That means a lot to me. xo
-
Yes, I saw it in the notes but thought it might be better placed in the text.
-
Ohhh! I see what you're saying. Sorry - I'm a little dense this evening. Thanks very much for that suggestion. xo

LoL! LoL! Day two and the succeeding days will be better....I'm sure of it!
Think about days on the beach, maybe you could go to Florida for their wonderful weather... Or come to Jamaica!
It will get better.

This was an old one (I've kept a Fly on the Wall journal for decades now. I'm sharing them, just not in any kind of chronological order.
After I got home that day, I framed it like this: G-d gave me a sense of humor, so it's only fair that He also gives me opportunities to use it! lol
Anway, thank you for the delightful and caring review. xo
-
LoL! OK, good. I enjoy reading your stories. So keep em coming!
-
I need you as my agent, Sandra. xo

LoL!

I had a similar experience yesterday at the CT scan. Several people milling around doing nothing while I wait and wait and wait. FINALLY, one chart was all alone in the bin and had been for a while, and bless paddy, it was mine! How do they get away with that?????

I can't understand it, damommy. It makes NO sense.
(is everything okay with the results?)
-
Yes, thank you for asking. It's so frustrating to wait like that. If I was late, they would just skipi over me.
-
Yes, you are right about that!!
And I'm glad you are aok. xo
Comment from Rhonda Skinner
Very well written, as usual. :) I like the description of the man walking in and the deli ticket wafting into the bowl. Will Ferrell's humorless brother was good too. Well done!

Comment from Gloria ....
My land, Rachelle, that is a heckuva lot of students to be teaching each week. Yikes.
ha, love the red-bellied ticket dispenser. What's more cool is that the dispenser sounds like a match for 383.
A most enjoyable read, and getting back to the students does sound like it might be The Good Life.

Blood letting on your first day of freedom. Lol. By choice too.
Your imagery is great. I felt like I was sitting in that Phlebby blue waiting room. Lol
Great job

Hahahah. I like your slant on this necessary evil!

I agree, Rachelle. What a way to greet people coming to a lab for tests. You did a great job with this chapter. Your words flow smoothly and are descriptive which allows readers to 'see' this happening. I enjoyed reading it, although I'm thankful I did not experience it. Thanks for sharing. Jan
