amada your poem The Friendship Fence
About your friend you had a now miss talking to her leaning on the fence, brings tears to ones face
Your memory of--her blue eyes still shone when looking at her wild blueberry bushes.
But
Months later, she didn't wake up. She lay peaceful and beautiful, her lips curved.

Amada,
I really love this story for many reasons. It teaches one about friendship, disability, death, memories, and being neighborly.
Also, it reminds me of my mom and her neighbor. From across the fence, they shared their friendship, discussing a multitude of topics over the years. Like Lois, my mom's neighbor passed away.
I hope this poem did well in the contest.

Thank you so much for this exceptional reward. I am so touched by your sentiments and your stars. Fences are for closeness, not for separation.

Beautiful...and how well you told the story.
So nice to read such as this.
Iowa's away A few days with some problems, or this would have six stars.
Its beautiful and I am catching up.
Bravo dear friend.
My best wishes.

What a great tribute to your friend and neighbour. I can understand how every time you look at that fence, you remember the conversations and the good times you enjoyed together. The picture is perfect for your story.

amada:
What a lovely, lovely tribute to your dear friend, Lois. I had an aunt in Maryland who had a dear friend which used to meet her almost every day
at their chain-link fence to chat unless the weather was extremely poor. It was always a joy to watch. Good luck in the contest.

Fences can bring together friendship in a wink. A friendship that last forever even when that friend passes. You still have the memories of all the good times you all had together and her sharing her precious blue berries together.

What a lovely story. When we have the gift of a friend like that, it's hard to lose them. But, what delightful memories you have. I really enjoyed your story, and I'm sure the blueberry pies were delicious. :)) Good luck in the contest. Sandra xx

What a lovely tribute to your friend and the friendship you shared with your neighbor, Amanda. My heart goes out to you, and to her family, for the loss. How fortunate you were to have shared a 20 year friendship with her. Best of luck with this contest entry.

What a beautiful story. It's wonderful that you had such a great friend and neighbour to continue to share life with as you aged. The most difficult part of aging is the many people we begin to lose, but we have great memories.
