Oh Diane, this is just so beautiful. I have tears in my eyes and the are flowing freely. Your poem is so tender and so full of love. What a lucky girl you are to have had such a loving and wise mother. A big hug. Ulla:)))

Oh, Ulla!
I am honored by your exceptional rating and heartfelt review.
My mother was such a dynamic force in my life. Twelve years after her passing, she still is!
So very pleased my words resonated with you.
And, yes, I was very lucky...
Thank you again!

This is a heartwarming tribute to your wise and loving mother, who apparently had just the right words of (usually) inspiring advice for any situation. Yes, her influence is evident in you, and you successfully passed it on, both to descendants and your many students over the years. This is a joy to read through misty eyes, as I recall my own mom's love. Superb, and aptly illustrated with the lilacs you and your mom so cherished.

You are most welcome, Diane. You are engaging in what, in my background, is called Remembrance unto Life, which maintains a positive form of contact with the spirit of one physically departed. In that respect, your mother truly is still with you and your family. -- Mike

Remembrance Unto Life...beautiful.
Thank you, Mike!

You are again welcome, Diane. We believe no one is truly gone until NO ONE remains who remembers some aspect of that person's life and/or legacy of works and other lives touched.

What a great memorial to your mom.
I am a purist, so I like to see punctuation--periods at ends of sentences, and spaces between periods in an ellipsis. That's just me.
I like all the various speaker tags.

Hello Coco Jane!
I would say I am a "purist" to a degree. But I do love to experiment with different forms of poetry and means of expressing my thoughts.
Thank you for your excellent rating and review.

That was totally beautiful, Diane, and a wonderful tribute to your wise and loving mother. I've lost my mum too, and it hurts, doesn't it? I love how you have written this, and it brings back memories of when I would do the opposite to what mum advised. But, that's what silly kids do, lol. We soon learn that they were right, all along. Well done, my friend, and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

You have me tearing up, Mrs KT. Wow! This is so deep and touching... Just recounting some of the conversations you had with your Mom, just really connects. My Mom is still alive, thank God, but yours is not, and it must be painful.
Thank God for love and memories. What a brilliant poem!
Best wishes in the contest.

A very well-written free verse poem for mothers day. Our mothers are always nearby with advice and offering a helping hand when we need it or not, and we do the same for our children.

I love this poem! It reminds me so much of my grandmother who I tried to emulate over the years. She never gave advice that sounded like she was trying to give advice. I just watched her and listen to her and tried to be like her. I don't believe through this process I was ever not successful. My computer isn't working currently. I'm using an iPad. But when I get my computer working again, I plan to go back and make a copy of this and keep it to remind me of my grandmother. Best wishes.
