Yes, I can remember the times before cell phones, PCs and all the accompanying tech things, but the world opened up for the world at that, it is a good thing for those that use it as it should be, but it has opened up a whole can of worms. Blessings Roy

The author's words are upsetting, sad, shocking, descriptive and creative. I pondered on these words and thought about the good time portrayed by these words. Then suddenly everything stopped! The poem flows and connects well. The artwork sends a good message as the author stated above the Title of this poem.

What a timely reminder to the reality of the message; driving requires total concentration. Distractions like mobile phones can exact very serious consequences. Head-on collisions with trucks usually don't end well. The do end, but not well.

In my opinion, a striking and starkly rendered, smooth free verse in descriptive specificity, in amazing detail, reminding us all, hopefully, of the transience of our existence when we ignore judgement for immediate gratification without thought for consequence...

This is a very thought-provoking poem. It should be read by everyone who owns a cell phone and drives a car. I am sure that texting has been the cause of a lot of needless accidents. So sad that people cannot lay their phones aside while they are driving.

Powerful imagery. Powerful metaphors. "Poisoned by the modern world". "Firm white pillows of regret". So relatable. Thank you for posting a powerful poem with an important message.

This is a wonderful free verse. In my state, driving and texting is illegal, but I have daily witnessed both adults and teens doing it. At a stop sign just the other day, a very young man working for the utility service bumped our vehicle from behind. He had been texting, had slowed but never stopped. My husband was furious. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
You did a great job:
- the narrative being in first person
- awesome imagery of the event
- the fact you did not sugarcoat the ending

You told this story in poem form very well. It is sad that accidents like this happen quite often. Thank you for sharing your story/poem here, and best wishes to you.

O.M.G. Reading this poem gave me goose bumps. It really packs a punch. I loved 'we would have preferred a ticket'. Excellent title too. Great poem. Take care. Jen.

This poem gives a clear image of a deadly crash due to use of phones while driving. It did take a while for the knowledge of texting or talking while driving was dangerous. But it is illegal in most places, which is great.
Keep writing and stay healthy
