I have seen many selfless acts of kindness of late. I think people are beginning to realize if they can't change the tide they can be a ripple...concentric circles of good, expanding.
Love your poem. Today I saw a young mom crying as she pumped gas into her car...
I asked her if I could help...
She smiled.
Told me she was inside paying for $5 worth of gas with a roll of dimes, when an older man stepped forward and handed the cashier his credit card, saying, "Fill it up, on me. .."
She was overwhelmed with gratefulness!

Willie,
Thank you for your verse, addressing a very complex situation.
Foe me, there is resounding truth in the words - "Hurt people hurt people" and this truth abides in every tragic happening, although it might be the hardest thing to see or accept. I believe that the best way to be a helper and supporter is to remember that we are all one - from one Source, walking different paths, leading back to one Home.
Happy thoughts are always helpful. Focusing on the dark does not remove it but sustains it.
The following verse by Carl Jung says it all for me: -
That I feed the hungry,
forgive an insult, and love my enemy-
these are great virtues.
But what if I should discover
that the poorest of the beggars
and most impudent of offenders
are all within me,
and that I stand in need
of the alms of my own kindness,
that I myself am the enemy
who must be loved-
what then?

Hi Willie,
I had one sixer left and stumbled upon your poem. You're sowing light, and that is good. There's so much evil in the world, but it's nice to see someone promoting goodness. That's what we need today.
Your poem brings to mind an old song I used in a few of my concerts back in the day, by Don Francisco, called "The Steeple Song". Here's a link:
https://youtu.be/QkHmmEPejQ0
Don's wife, Wendy, is accompanying him on guitar.
Your poem goes right along with the last piece I wrote.
My favorite lines,
"Be the one who brings the light,
Help the troubled with all your might."
and,
"Be a healer, not a hater,
Keep love going now not later."
and,
"Help the ones who only hate,
Turn them to God before it's too late."
Nicely penned!
Blessings,
Kimbob

It's a good thing to be not only positive in our lives, but support and help pick up those who are down, and are struggling, particularly through loss and grief, but simply support and come alongside, beautifully written Written, a marvellous prayer, well done, blessings Roy

What a beautiful poem, both an exhortation (and challenge) and an uplifting write. If only ... if only everyone would heed your words what a different world we'd have. Very well written with excellent rhyme, rhythm and metre. Sorry not to have a six for you.

You really touched on the basic problem with the world today. Not enough people are willing to show love to others. A person who feels unloved becomes desensitized to pain, and find it very easy to hurt others in an effort to ease their own pain. When did it become a rule that to show a loving and caring attitude towards others was somehow not manly?

James Taylor would have been happy to sing these lyrics. Reminds me of the peace movement of the 70's, something our society sorely lacks today. Love the message. Spread the love.

this is quite a nice poem. I feel it is all about supporting the ones you love as well as the people you might meet. You never know what a kind word or gesture could do for person. Thanks for sharing
