I congratulate you on the success of your marriage. I have always believed that marriage is not a 50-50 proposition. It has to be a 100 proposition. Both parties have to be fully committed. What a beautiful interesting read. Not only do you give your reader knowledge about Irish culture, that they might not know, but you also share a deep part of yourself in revealing your own story. This is an engaging read. Somewhat different from the other entries I've read for this contest, but none the worse for that {smiles}.
Here are a few points you might like to consider:
Anam Cara -- I've never heard of this phrase before. Thank you for broadening my horizons {smiles}.
Soul friend doesn't merely refer to the union... -- If this was mine, I'd start the second paragraph here. It keeps the sentences starting with "Instead, it signifies..." in their logical unit. They all have the same focus.
My wife comforts the wounded shadows that sneak out from under the covers -- I particularly like this snippet. It's very descriptive {smiles}.
We can hear each other's silent thoughts; -- I'm not sure about this. Are thoughts anything but "silent"?
