Mrs. KT, this is exquisite, pulling on my heartstrings. I truly wish I had a six star to give you.
I love how you went down the line and wrote of the many words of wisdom from your mom and your response to each.
So much love, humor, life instruction, joy and sadness all wrapped up in this beautiful tribute.
Thank you for sharing!

Super touching tribute to mothers, in general, and yours, specifically and especially. Interesting format with her words and your commentary paired as couplets. highlight effective! All lines are great, but here are my favorite bits:
*
The best gift you can give someone is a book, she imparted
I've gifted and received hundreds through the years
*
I practiced until I learned, and then I practiced more
*
I planted three, and then I planted three more..
The closing two stanzas are super poignant. Sorry for your loss--yet grateful for the celebration of Infinite Unconditional Love and mother-wisdom. You're blessed...and so was she...and so are YOUR kids!
Love,
rd
PS This is sure to place...

Dear rd,
I am thrilled and honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
My mother was such a dynamic force in my life. Although she passed away in 2007, she is still with me during so many moments of my everyday life...
This offering was such a reflective joy to pen...but I must admit that I was brought to tears as I remembered so many times, places, and long ago words of wisdom...
Thank you again, rd!
Fondly,
diane

She is with you...fully! I feel it, dear.

Yes these words of advice are given by a wise and caring mum, who knows the wisdom and guidance of God, my parents weren't Christian, but I still learned from them, not all good, but I endeavoured to change that for my kids, and it worked, the importance things is...its generational. Beautifully written, I enjoyed. Diane, well done

In my opinion, oh, my goodness - this beautiful poem brought tears to my eyes - such a beautiful tribute to your mother in flowing, descriptive verse - artfully and articulately presented. I absolutely loved the choice of image as well, reminiscent of my birthplace in Canada that was literally brimming with these beautiful and irresistably scented lilacs, which I can almost inhale from your image. I still miss them today. Thank you for such an exquisite read...

A lovely tribute for Mother's Day. A tribute to which most of us can relate to those words of wisdom from mom. Only, "when the right one comes along, you'll know" might draw some debate; after 42 years, my wife says she's still lookin'... Nice work. Happy Mother's Day from Texas!

Such a sweet, sad, heartbreaking, gut wrenching poem! The frustration of hearing advice, yet not listening, turning away when someone tries to help, and then breaking down when we realize they won't be there to continue doing so. We've all been there, and we've all, or most, have been doomed to repeat the frustration. Absolutely lovely, thank you for sharing.

Wow -- now that is the winner. Nope, not even listening to arguement on this one... even if the committee doesn't choose it, it is still the winner from any number of standpoints.... a BEAUTIFUL and heart-melting memorial to a great woman who obviously had a lot to do with the heart of the Lady Diane we know through her talented pen! :) :) Not even gonna wish you luck because, as I so stubbornly already stated, this is the winner. :) ;) Yvette

I read this wonderful piece with misty eyes. Why? because each one of us who had wise and loving mother received advise that made our lives better. Their advice when heeded made us better people, better mates and better parents. One of my favorite scriptures is Isaiah chapter 48, verse 18, which starts out with "If only you would pay attention to my commandments!" I just want you to know mom, I listened. I did not always follow all of your advise, but when I did I prospered. Thank you for writing this, you touched me in a special way.

I think your mother would be proud of this tribute to her memory, and the accomplishments of her daughter.

I found a post on FB today posted a year ago today. How could I know that in twenty days time she would be gone. It broke my heart, it will never mend. Our mothers are the glue which holds a family together. Without her we can all fall apart. Loved your poem. PM
