At least Helen is all right, for now, but I am wondering what this is all about. I am sure Helen will struggle getting over this. I know I would. This is another very good write.

Very many thanks for dropping by to read and review, Barbara - and for the six stars. Much appreciated. I suspect that we're soon going to find out what it's all about! I sure hope so! LOL Tony

A very well-written chapter, it seems Helen knows a few tricks to defend herself and escaped from the ones who want to keep her captive. The help of the rag and bobne man just arrived at the right time.

Love the honesty of Helen's 'knight in shining armour' Admitting he had not got a clue.Great scene with the Rag and Bone man and his dog - mobster V mongrel - Terrific chapter Tony, plenty of action and ending with Helen's tears. Enjoyed it,
cheers,
valda

Thanks again for your very kind words and generous award of the extra star, Valda. Both much appreciated. I'm hoping things might quieten down now that those two men are out of the way for a while. All the best, Tony

That was exciting. Helen was very resourceful in escaping from the guys. Strangely, Henri just happened to be there with a shotgun and a bull mastiff. Hmmm. Seems there's more to Henri than just a cart man. Now, to find out why they took Helen.

Thanks for stopping by to read this one, Yvonne. Yes, Charles was lucky to have some unexpected assistance here. I suspect he'd have made a bit of a hash of things, left to himself! All the best, Tony

Great new chapter. So pleased to be connected so I can pick up some more good reading. One spag with options for change...impression that he did not underst(an)[oo]d a word.
OR impression that he [did not](never) understood a word.
I have put up the Acknowledgements page on my book. Notice plenty of adaptation of good old Garamond 22 thanks to you. Now: more please.

I was confused about what happened to the shotgun. Need another sentence there to explain that it was hidden away somehow. Otherwise, you conveyed the excitement of the chase quite well.
