This was a great write-up for the author's fair. A pity they did not advertise it more. Did they charge for anything? I mean space or whatever? Look forward to more comment.

I am glad you enjoyed yourself at this event. I would think the networking would be the highlight of something like this. I'm sorry more people weren't there. Next year, perhaps you can ask the promoters to do a better job promoting - even take a few posters around yourself. Libraries and even schools where they teach writing classes.
Glad you had fun; hopefully, people who bought a book from you will buy more in the future.

Thank you for the support. I wish they'd send out an after-action report to fill out. I want to contact the person in charge and ask, but don't want to be labeled as a difficult author.

This is interesting information. I'm happy for you that you sold as many books as you did. I'm sure the other writers were disappointed. I"ve had friends who paid a lot of money to go to writers a conferences. They all got to talk to publishers but none of the signed with one and they did't sell any books.

What a shame it was not advertised! And yet good came from it, both in your sales and in your networking. It's discouraging to not be able to sell the work one has laboured over, but I guess the reward is in the journey of writing rather than the destination. Thanks for the update.

This sounds like a very worthwhile event for authors like yourself, Barbara. It's a shame it wasn't better publicised but well done for being the best selling author there - huge boost of confidence! And a great experience from which to learn. Thanks for sharing. Debbie

It would appear, unless you are an established celebrity, turnout at book signings can be hit or miss. There are book fairs in major cities designed to highlight the works of minority authors, usually associated with such occasions as Black, Hispanic, or Asian appreciation day or month. Good luck going forward with your efforts.

Glad you got the opportunity to promote and meet cool people. Events like that have to be advertised or nobody will show up. Seems like a fumble on the library's end.

It is a shame you didn't have more people in attendance. Maybe it's the time of year. People have a lot of other things going on, like getting the kids ready for school, etc. You also mentioned the library didn't do a great job of promoting the event. You had a good turn-out among the authors, however. Certainly a great diversity among the types of books they write. It sounds like it was a good experience for you, as you sold some books and met some of the other authors and share information. Maybe you'll have a better turn-out for the next Meet the Author event. I enjoyed reading about your experience. judi
