Thank you for all the information. I have wondered how to take a piece out of circulation. Now I am clear.
I have not noticed the Preview option!
Thanks .

Response from TOM:
Thank you for the feedback. It is appreciated.
HA.

You are right about everything here, Liz. That choice of preview Yes/No is ridiculous. Any time, as you say, you have to reboot, it reverts to No. I have been in the process of working on a poem when it happened to me. Your info is spot on. I also don't like the restriction of not being able to use all Caps for titles. Some titles look so forlorn in lowercase with just a few capitals. I wonder why it was ever designed (the preview thing) the way we have it. If one doesn't write a title in the box, a message shows reminding about it though it isn't the same as fixing that then saving. That silly Preview thing is still there. I wish all would write Tom to have it deleted.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Check out Lisa Wharton's review--I've also appended it to the post.
You can use ALL CAPS except for one letter!
-
Also, the number of characters allowed in a title needs to be extended.

You're doing a great job informing people about the how-to's and what-not-to -do's and you've only been here less than a year! Thank you for all your contributions! And I do find that the Preview option defaults to No after a software update.

Yes. I have to say I did it a couple of times. But this is a way to take the piece out of circulation.
1. Press Edit
2. Go down to Show Advanced Options
3. Under "Releases Mode", choose "Disabled (remove from public view).
4. When you are done editing, you choose "Standard Release".
You've made a good point.

I told everyone to check out your review--I've also appended it to the post. THANKS! I didn't know one could reenable a disabled post--I thought it would be deleted.

Great.

Thank you so much for this excellent advice, and for the reminder to set the preview to YES. I have always preferred that setting, but as you say, sometimes it returns to NO if you log off, and don't realize you have to change it again. This is very well written and understandable and I'm sure there are newbies who will be especially grateful to learn of this option. I didn't know it at first, but that was twelve years ago. ;p MM

Wow! Are you now part of the story land police squad enforcing ridiculous rules. Who cares? Really! Who is so invested in a ranking that they would double post a poem? This is where FS turns me off. Rankings are trivial and don't reflect in most cases the skill level of authors. Hmmm...why am I so fired up over the internal workings of our FS system. Isn't FS in the end a vanity project anyway if people really find worth in rankings?

Indeed, this is a vanity site. Disgraceful that people actually cheat to get spurious rankings--totally volume-based. The irony is that some who have done this are superb writers. One poet was recently outed--he's done this several years running--he's been suspended at least; he should be banned--we shall see.
